As my mom took me to the specialist I told them what has been happening to me and all symptoms.
Once again they did more tests and exams on my eyes.
She held up her hand in front me and said to me "Look at my nose and tell me how many fingers do you see?".
"Two" I replied.
She did this again but on the right side and asked the same question, but this time I couldn't see her fingers.
I told her I couldn't see her fingers. She started taking notes down. I looked towards my mom who just gave me a smile.
I suddenly got extremely nervous.
The lady left the room leaving my mom and I alone. I sat there in silence waiting for my results.
A couple of minutes later, a man came in. He explained to me that my vision was fine but there's something blocking the right side of my vision which caused me to be blind on the right side.
I looked over to my mom and I noticed that she was crying. I didn't know what it felt like to be a parent but looking over to her I knew she felt hopeless.
The eye doctor passed her some tissues and continued speaking but I zoned out still processing what he had just said. Then I heard him say that I should be taken to the ER immediately.
My mom understood this, signed out, and took off. First she wanted to go to the house to grab some clothing, food, and pillows. She thought we might stay there a while. She also made a few phone calls to our family members explaining the situation. The entire time she looks sad and worried.
I was only 13 but in two months I would turn 14.
As soon as we finish packing we got on the truck and drove off to Texas Children's Hospital. We walked over to the emergency room and once again I had to explain my entire situation.
They took my temperature and also check my blood pressure as they do to all the patients.
I was admitted to a room almost immediately and they put a gown on me along with an IV.
My mom took photos as memories because I knew later in the future she would want to look back and remember. It was getting late and we were waiting on the doctors and nurses for what seemed like forever so I assumed that we were probably going to stay the night.
