When I woke up I was immediately checked by a nurse. She checked my blood pressure and took my temperature. She told me the steps in ordering breakfast but I already knew how.
My mom was in the hallway grabbing some coffee as she does every morning. I ordered an omelette with fruit and some milk. Then a volunteer from the hospital came in with a cart full of activities. She greeted me with a huge smile then said " Would you like to pick some toys?"
" yeah sure" I replied
"You can pick three things" she said
"Thank you"
I searched the cart looking at all the activities that it had. I chose a coloring book with crayons and markers, a Rubiks cube, and a stress ball. I thanked her and waved a goodbye.
15 minutes later my food came in and I quickly started eating while coloring. Then my mom came in with a bag and a tray of food in her hand. By her side was my aunt and my uncle.
I guess they were talking outside and my mom was explaining more information about the situation to them and they had brought her food and more clothing. My cousins had also came to visit me and we were all watching a movie. This time we were watching frozen.
Every once in a while the nurse would come in and check in on me again and sometimes they would take tubes of my blood so that they could take some tests on what was happening to me. When they left some doctors came in.
These doctors were endocrine and oncologist. They told me their theories on what might be going on. They said I have a tumor but they didn't know how it started or when it started. My mom started asking a bunch of questions like can it be cured? Is it aggressive?
What they said next completely broke my mom , The entire time I couldn't help but think how she felt. I completely broke her and I felt like it was all my fault. The doctors told us that I would need surgery. They said they would try to take as much of the tumor out as possible even though it would be very difficult. It would be hard to take the tumor out because around it were a lot of veins and since we didn't accept blood they had to be very careful not to poke one.
If they did poke one I could lose my speech, my vision, my ability to walk, or my hearing.
Then they said first they would take a lot of tests and give me medicine so I could produce more blood in my body then they will do surgery after that. They asked us if we had any questions. We told them no and thanked them for explaining everything then they walked away. Me and my mom talked about it because I felt like she was the only person I could really talk to about this kind of situation. She told me everything was going to be all right and that I'm a strong girl. Soon it was getting late, time had flied so fast so we fell asleep watching a movie together.
