"Thomas we're about to start our descent," Vince called out from the control room in the front of the Berg. Him and Jorge still had no idea that Newt was alive, as the group had continued to talk for well over a half hour. Whenever Newt laughed, Thomas's stomach clenched. He took Minho's comment to heart. What if that's how Newt felt? And if it was, how unbelievably lucky would he be? Everything about him was perfect. His golden blond hair shone in the sun, and the light brown pieces matched his beautiful and focused eyes. His lips were a soft pink, always full and pulled into a soft smile or sexy smirk. His cheekbones and jawline were defined but soft at the same time. His smile, god his smile, took his breath away. Sometimes he'd wink at Thomas from across the Glade whenever he came back from the maze, and let's just say that got the runner worked up.
He was lean but muscular surprisingly, his biceps ripped from the amount of gardening he was used to. He was slightly taller than Thomas, which made hugs the slightest bit more comforting. But that was just a piece of how perfect he was physically. His personality was shockingly even more attractive. Thomas couldn't figure out if it was determination or stubbornness, but Newt had it, and it was adorable. No matter what, if he started a project, he had to finish it, even if he despised it. Although he'd never admit it, Newt was also stubbornly loyal. If any in the group needed him for anything, he would find a way. Even when he knew he would progressively get sicker, he didn't stop until Minho was safe. And even when he was in his final hours of sickness, he maintained his sarcasm. He was always protective and made sure his friends were safe, and that just made Thomas want to cuddl-
"SHANK! We landed you idiot!"
Thomas was knocked out of his trance by a kick from Minho. Newt giggled softly in his lap, which made Thomas just stare at him in shock. He was so shucking adorable. He pulled him into his arms, hugging him as tightly as he could, but not enough to hurt him. Newt recovered from his shock and hugged back, playing with the hair on the back of Thomas's neck. It made Thomas take a deep breath of relief and take in his scent, just enjoying the blond's presence and warmth.
"I'm uh just gonna help Vince and Jorge with the supplies."
Newt squirmed in Thomas's lap as he rested his head on his shoulder. Thomas put his hand on the boy's hips to still him, because even though he loved the feeling of him on top of him, he couldn't focus on anything when he moved.
"I just want to sit here forever. I'm so tired of fighting, Tommy. I just want to be with you and be done with everything else."
Thomas lifted the blonde's head to look into his eyes. He really did look exhausted, so emotionally and physically drained that you could see it from many feet away. The dark circles under his eyes were prominent compared to his pale skin. His sparkling eyes had dulled. It looked like a cloud had passed over on a clear day, making him frown, because he missed his sunshine.
"Hey, once we get settled, I promise you can sleep all you want. And I'm not leaving until you kick me out."
"Can I...sleep with you tonight," Newt asked with a rush, his cheeks flaring into a bright pink.
Newt wants to sleep with you. Don't make it weird. Don't ruin it, Thomas, was all he could think, the words running through his mind over and over like a recording. He looked so shy, so innocent. All Thomas wanted to do was kiss every inch of his adorably timid face. But instead, he decided to ignore those intruding and dangerous thoughts, nudging Newt's knee so he could get up. Once he managed, he held out his hand for Newt to take. They both tried to ignore the tingly feeling that passed through them when their fingers connected, but couldn't conceal the grins on their faces. The boys stood for a moment until Thomas pulled him into a proper hug, not being able to control his urge to touch him.
"Of course, Newtie. I'm not leaving your side again."
