Common Cold- Aidan

It was a cold winter day and Aidan wasn't feeling good, he caught a cold from staying in the snow for too long. He woke up feeling like he has to sneeze which woke up Zoe so she gave him some tissue.

Zoe: Here Aidan, some tissue.

Aidan: Thanks (blows nose)

Raphael: Aidan what was that for?

Aidan: Sorry didn't mean to wake you up. Ohh my ear hurts.

Zoe: Looks like and earache, do you have a fever?

Aidan: (nods)

Zoe: Let me check.

The 12-year-old genius grabbed the thermometer from the bathroom and puts it in Aidan's mouth because the ear thermometer will make his ear hurt.

Zoe: Aidan you're on 39.5°C, your fever is quite high.

Raphael: Can we wake up Yuto and Thaiyo and go down for breakfast, Luke, Calum, Michael and Ashton are calling is.

Zoe: Yeah let's do it.

They left Aidan behind and went down for breakfast. When the boys know that Aidan didn't show up, they were completely worried.

Calum: Guys, where's Aidan.

Zoe: He's sick, he got a cold.

Luke: Is he hungry?

Raphael: Well I'm sure he is.

Just then, Aidan showed up and sat next to Raphael because he's clingy when he's sick. He is not in the mood to eat so he just hugs the oldest.

Raphael: Aidan, why you're here I thought you won't eat breakfast.

Aidan: I want someone for me to hug with.

Raphael: Okay.

Thaiyo: Gay!

Zoe and Yuto: Shush!

Ashton: Well finally a Chinese and an American could go along.

Calum: He is a Hong Konger so Chinese and Hong Kong people are not the same. You know some people from Hong Kong doesn't like native Chinese people because of their dislike.

Ashton: Oh okay.

Time has passed and Aidan hasn't eaten anything so his siblings tried to think about his illness and try to give him something to eat.

Raphael: Guys, since Aidan is sick and doesn't feel like eating anything, what are we going to do?

Zoe: Give him Chicken Noodle Soup?

Raphael: Yup and also just let me feed him he's clingy.

Zoe: Great I guess...

Thaiyo: Sounds gay.

Yuto: Don't say that.

Raphael: Does anyone have instant chicken noodle soup.

Zoe: I have, I always have cup noodles in my bag. (Checks bag) That's weird, the cup noodles are gone.

Raphael: It's okay, since we are having a day off, let's ask Ashton if he could cook chicken noodle soup.

Raphael called Ashton over and helped him make the soup. When it's done, the oldest laid the bowl on the coffee table.

Raphael: Aidan, wake up.

Aidan: (wakes up) Hmm?

Raphael: You feeling good?

Aidan: (shakes head for no)

Zoe: Hey can we get Cold meds after Aidan finishes his food?

Raphael: Sure, where to get it?

Zoe: Wait we didn't buy any cold meds. Maybe some Zyrtec would do but it is meant for allergy symptoms and it is not effective for cold patients.

Raphael: Now what?

Zoe: Maybe we should try some remedies.

Raphael: Good thinking, Aidan, want some chicken noodle soup?

Aidan: Sure... (coughs)

Raphael: You okay?

Aidan: No.

Raphael: You'll be fine okay?

Aidan: (nods)

The oldest started feeding Aidan some chicken noodle soup and he started to feel a bit better.

Raphael: Feeling any better?

Aidan: Yup, (sighs) it's getting colder here.

Zoe: Because it's winter, maybe I should turn on the heater(turns on the heater) there ya go.

Yuto: Guys has anyone seen my sweatshirt?

Raphael: Didn't Thaiyo steal it?

Thaiyo: I got Yuto's hoodie!

Yuto: Hey come back here!

Zoe: Well that'll do.

Raphael: Yeah man.

Zoe: Hey maybe we should move alot, it'll warm you up.

Raphael: But what about Aidan?

Zoe: Oh yeah, maybe we should look after him a bit more.

It has been several hours since Aidan got sick and he has finally recovered but his illness got worse. He is now experiencing Pneumonia symptoms which concerns Raphael and Zoe along with the other members.

Raphael: Guys what are we going to do with him?

(You hear wheezing)

Yuto, Zoe and Thaiyo: Umm...

Zoe: We dunno what to do with him na, his fever became 40°C and we should take him to the hospital.

Raphael: Shoot I knew it, we have to go, Yuto call Ashton, Zoe pack up.

Everyone went to the hospital and Aidan was wheeled to a room and the others waited for the news about him.

Dr. Lim: So what I wanted to inform you is that Aidan got Pneumonia so we have to put him on oxygen.

Everyone: (gasps)

Luke: But he caught a cold.

Dr. Lim: I know but it got worse because of the weather.

Everyone: (looks at the window)

Dr. Lim: So his case has gone bad because of his age and also of his long term Respiratory Condition, Asthma.

Raphael: Asthma? But I got Cystic Fibrosis.

Zoe: Don't tell her, you're a teenager now.

Raphael: Okay.

Dr. Lim: So he will be able to leave for about a week and we will prescribe him with breathing treatments for another few weeks.

Calum: Thanks, can we see him?

Dr. Lim: Sure follow me.

They followed the doctor to Aidan's room where he's sleeping with an IV and Nasal Cannula. The kids felt bad for him because they knew that kids with severe Respiratory illnesses are not good. After a week he was released and he would have to be on oxygen at home for the next few weeks until he gets better.
