Croup- Raphael

Fall came but Raphael started to feel sick and it is nearly the beginning of school. His younger friends are really excited for the next season but his illness concerned them.

Aidan: Hey dude, how ya feelin'?

Raphael: Sick...

Thaiyo: Sick and it is the beginning of fall? But this is the first time Fall came ever since we first went to America.

Aidan: First for all of you but for me several times because my dad took me to Boston when I was 4.

Yuto: Cool man, cool.

Zoe: Well since it's cold season, there are many times kids get sick like Raphael here.

Raphael: I'm not a kid anymore I'm 13.

Zoe: I know but 13 is still kid so you can still catch childhood illness.

Raphael: I know (coughs)

Thaiyo: Wait is there a seal in the house.

Raphael: Sorry it's just me.

Zoe: A respiratory illness.

Yuto: What do you mean?

Aidan: Oh yeah, you're right.

Raphael: Guys I don't feel good.

Yuto: I know man, I know.

Zoe: (gasps) Guys, I think Raphael got Croup.

Thaiyo: Croup? What the heck is that?

Zoe: It's a respiratory illness at the trachea and the larynx.

Thaiyo: Oh shit...

Aidan: What does that mean?

Zoe: Take him to the hospital?

Raphael: Will I be admitted?

Aidan: Dunno.

Zoe: Maybe because you have to be under observation but it'll last for 48 hours.

Raphael: But will I be put on oxygen?

Zoe: Yup because your respiratory system needs help so we will go to the hospital.

Calum: Hey kids, it's autumn and we are going out.

Zoe: Nope, we ain't doing that Calum, we are going to the hospital.

Calum: Wait what why?

Zoe: Because Raphael got really sick and his larynx and trachea are inflamed.

Calum: Does he have laryngitis?

Zoe: Nope, he has Croup so we're going, now.

Calum: What? Umm okay.

They went to the hospital and Raphael started stridor. Calum kept him close just like a father would do to his son while his younger siblings looked frightened. When his name was called, everyone stood up and went to the doctors' office.

Dr. Lim: So what's going on with Raphael?

Calum: He has Croup and he is now having trouble breathing.

Dr. Lim: I see, so since when did he catch this illness?

Zoe: This morning.

Dr. Lim: Okay so we have to admit him because he will be under observation until tomorrow because it is already severe.

Raphael: What the? No no no no no.

Calum: Don't worry doctor, we will observe him, he has his lovely little siblings and this girl, she's a genius she can observe him.

Dr. Lim: Are you sure?

Zoe: Yeah.

Dr. Lim: Okay so I will prescribe him with a Nasal Cannula which he will wear for 7 days and and a blow-by oxygen mask.

Calum: Wait does he have a nasal cannula already?

Zoe: Yup but it was like last year so we need a new one.

Calum: Genius...

Dr. Lim: So that's it please go to pharmacist to get the medication and then you're good to go.

Calum: Thanks.

When they went home, Raphael was under observation for 48 hours and recovering for 7 days. He has to be on breathing treatments during recovery. Zoe has to observe him for 48 hours until he is back in shape.
