Dreams are Beatiful and Terrifying

Dreams are, truly, beautiful yet completely... terrifying, aren't they? They show you the other side of things. They show you how to perceive the world in so many different ways that it would take longer than a lifetime to count. Weird and wacky things are just the tip of the iceberg. You can have dreams that have something to do with reality, whether it be of the day before, or the year before. And yet they could be something utterly different.

I was walking down the road. A road I had walked many a time before that. Just walking, not wanting to go home, but also knowing that the longer I waited, the worse it would be. I was out to get cigarettes and beer for my dad. He had written a note for each so that he didn't have to get it himself. It was borderline illegal. Hell! I think it was illegal! But who am I to tell? I'm just a kid. Old enough to do everything, but not old enough to know anything! I sometimes hate this world, especially the adults!

Then, a sudden feeling of fear overwhelmed me. Not a slight quaking of the knees, of increased sweating and heart rate, but a complete and utter sensation of drowning took hold of my tiny, frail body. I, without thinking, ran away, not looking back! Something was chasing me! I knew it, I just knew it! I kept running until my my feet were covered in blisters. Why were my feet covered in blisters, you ask? Well it's simple. No shoes. But there was no time for that, I had to get away from that-- that thing!

By now, I had left the town I was in, deep in the forest. I had heard that monsters lived outside of urban areas, but I didn't care! I had seen a few of those monsters, and they did scare me, but they were nothing compared to the abomination that was writhing and contorting its muscles to roll after me! I looked back to check if it was following me. I couldn't hear a thing. Not a bird, nor wind, nor rustling of the leaves. Nothing. Then the hulking mass came out of the tree line, since I just happened to stumble into a clearing. It was a blob, with long, oozing tentacles sliding about, protruding from everywhere on its body! A giant mouth, lined with jagged, razor sharp teeth spat acid in all directions. It had one enormous, glistening eye just above the mouth.

In the eye, light flashed about. A swirling mass glided about, like a small universe.  Stars all over the place, each with planets similar to our own! Each with a unique life form to inhabit it, each with a unique culture, and each with a unique science. Each world had various inexplicable, yet beautiful things on it. Things that were surely impossible on our own planet!

I could see the home planet of this creature. He was outlawed for being framed and wanted a hug... and I ran away... but I understood he forgave me. I could see so many things! So many one could hardly believe it! I could see-- I could see—

"Oi! Kid! Where the hell are you! Get the f*ck up and sit down next to me, you little turd! We need to talk! Now get down here before I cut you real bad!" Yelled my father.

I got up out of bed and went downstairs, not bothering to get dressed.

"Yes father..."
