First Impressions can be Good... or Bad

First impressions can be good, but they can just as easily be bad, and most of the time, you think you did a clumsy, ugly performance. This was the case with me. Good or Bad, you ask. Well I've got a question for you. How badly treated have I been so far, hmm? And do you think it's getting any better anytime soon? No... not a chance on this blue planet.

I got out of the car and walked up to the other new master and mistresses beside Taiyang. They looked nice... well, the kids did. The parents either looked bored or as if they were acting... badly. I stood next to Taiyang and looked at the ground underneath the others' feet.

"This is (Y/N)." Said Tai, gesturing to me. "He is your little brother, girls."

"Yay!" Shouted the younger one, Ruby. "A little brother!"

Yang had somewhat the same reaction, except she looked me up and down first.

And with that, we all went inside. Ruby and Yang were running around, showing me everything while I faked a confused smile. I'd gotten adept at acting over the years with my biological father. The adults watched us silently until they told the two girls to go to bed. I had nowhere to go, so I stayed.

"(Y/N), you will be sleeping in the wardrobe in the spare room. When you wake up, make breakfast, do the dishes and the laundry, then clean the house. Understand that the wardrobe is temporary, and that you'll have your own bed, desk, and chair in about a month. After that one month, the wardrobe will be removed." Said the woman who looked like an adult Yang with black hair, whom I assumed to be Raven.

"Yes ma'am..." I said. "Goodnight." They simply walked away. I walked up the stairs and into the room that didn't have a label on it saying something akin the "Bathroom" or "Raven's Bedroom". Inside was nothing except a wardrobe. I opened it to see a small space at the bottom. No wriggle room, and no storage room. Looks like I'll have to wait a month. I lay down in the "bed" in a foetal position, and closed the doors to the wardrobe, so as to be hidden. I've always liked to be hidden in a dark and quiet place.

I lay there contemplating. However, the next instant, I opened the doors to the wardrobe and got out. The sun was rising and the others wouldn't be up yet.

I walked down the stairs and went to the kitchen. I made omelettes for everyone except me. It's best not to waste ingredients on oneself unless given permission. I learnt that from my biological family. Do for others what you would do for yourself, and for yourself, nothing.

After cooking breakfast and serving it, I washed the various utensils I used for the making of the omelettes and put them in the drying basket next to the sink.

Then, I went to the main washing basket in the laundry room. I took out the washing and placed it all in the washing machine. I put the temperature to the correct setting and did all the necessities for the process of washing clothes.

Once done, I went to the shed to get a broom. I went back to the house and started the sweep of the floor.

After about five minutes, the owners all started piling down the stairs to the dining table. They all ate and did their own thing after that. Raven polishing her sword. Qrow drinking alcohol. Summer and Taiyang chatting while watching Ruby and Yang playing outside. They seemed quite normal... for slave owners...

I finished sweeping and starting on the dusting. The others shifted a bit, Yang and Ruby having come inside now and playing video games on their mobiles on an online game together being the most prominent change in behaviour.

All of the major chores were done. Now to cook lunch. I went to the kitchen and started to cook spaghetti and meatballs in a tomato sauce. After cooking, I served it up, cleaned the utensils and requested permission from Taiyang to go to the spare room. He gave the desired permission and I went to the aforementioned room.

I looked out the window and stopped thinking for a moment. I then opened the door and went downstairs to clear the table, wash the dishes, and make dinner. I cooked pork in the slow cooker. I made green beens, and I made chips. I served it up, waited for them to finish, washed the dishes, and went to my room. I then left my room, made breakfast, did the laundry, cleaned the house, did the dishes, made lunch, did the dishes, made dinner, did the dishes, went to my room, and repeated the process. Over... and over... and over...
