The beat hits
a familiar syncopation
the floor dances
as people feel it hit like rain
the soft hum
and drum beat
as our army marches
to the sound
the hands of people do the wiggle
and the legs are earthquakes
the boys are weathering the floor
by breaking it with the
shimmies and flips
some people are hurricanes
as they do ballet by accident
the soft boom of the singers
is a marimba with the beat plucked boom
a flute, maracas
no it's a guitar, oh it's beauty
as we sing along and dance to
this familiar syncopation
