Steve tried his best to adjust to normal life again. May went home, so Steve could take full charge of Peter. He took him to school and did all the usual dad things, but nothing felt the same. They both felt this emptiness without Tony there. Honestly, Steve was certain Tony was long dead. They still hadn't heard back from him after he'd sent that letter months ago.

Peter came home and immediately checked the mailbox, like he always did. Of course, it was empty. He went inside and flopped down on the couch, letting out a loud sigh that caught Steve's attention. "What's up?"

"Does he still love us?"

"Of course he does. W-why would you even ask that?" They we're both crying now.

"Then why wouldn't he write back, huh? He's either dead or doesn't love us anymore." Peter rested his head on Steve's chest and closed his eyes, letting the tears fall down onto Steve's pants.

"Peter, he loves you very much. No matter where he is, I'm sure he's thinking about you. We're gonna get through this, okay? Together." Peter didn't say anything, just held his Pops tight. Meanwhile, Tony was sitting in his tent...
