A year went by, and Steve wasn't getting any better. They finally made the decision to send him home to his son. Peter was at home, preparing to start the seventh grade, when he heard a knock on the door. "I'll get it!" May yelled from the other room.

Suddenly, Peter heard crying and he ran to the door, making sure May was okay. Then he saw him. His Pops standing right there in the doorway. He ran to him and jumped in his arms, practically tackling him to the ground. "Pops! I missed you so much." Steve could barley speak, he was so full of joy. Two years of waiting for this very moment.

"P-pops?" Peter said, pulling out of the hug. "W-where's Dad?"

"Bud, your Dad's still over there. You see, I got very hurt so they had to send me home. But he...he's still fighting. I'm so sorry." Peter began to feel dizzy. All he wanted was his dads back. Both of them.
He hugged Steve again, burying his face in his chest. "I love you, Pops."

"I love you too, Peter."

Steve couldn't sleep that night, imagining his husband all alone on the battlefield. He was worried about him. Peter said Tony hadn't written in months. "Please be okay," Steve whispered to himself. "Please come home to me."

Steve's thoughts were interrupted when he heard a knock on the door. "Pops? Can I sleep in here with you?" Steve smiled. "Of course you can." Peter climbed into the bed that had been empty for two years.
