The spotlight greets you as you step out on stage.
The silence meets you as you unlock your cage
Of unaddressed turmoil, unaddressed rage.
You show them what it's like, reading a book and a page
From your viewpoint, your thoughts and dreams.
You show them that nothing is ever as it seems.
You speak with passion, you speak with fire,
With confidence and desire.
When you finish, your heart is soaring. The applause, deafening. The silence, roaring.
You take a step back, take a bow and smile.
The empty theater had been sated for a while.
