41. Boiler room
When my kid was four, we were watching a documentary on the Titanic. The scene was a picture of the boiler room and the camera panned from left to right. He pointed at the TV and said, "That's wrong. The boilers were on the other side, and I was right here." He pointed to a small space in the boiler room. "That's were I was. And that's why I don't like water now."
42. Upstairs
When I was a child, I lived in a rented two-floor house. Both my parents worked so I was often alone when I came from school. One early evening when I came home, the house was still dark. I called out "Mum?" and heard a voice say "Yeeeeees?" from upstairs. I called my mum again, and again got the same "Yeeeeees?" reply. I felt she was calling back at me so I climbed up the stairs.
When I reached the first floor, I called her once more and the voice "Yeeeeees?" came from the furthest room. I felt both uneasy, but a strong urge to see my mother, and started to walk towards the room. But just that moment, I heard the front door downstairs open and my mother come in, carrying a lot of shopping bags.
"Sweetie are you home?" My mother called in a cheery voice. Hearing her voice made me feel instantly better and I turned back to go downstairs at once .. but not before I had a quick glance toward the room. While I watched from the top of the stairs, the door to the room slowly opened a crack. For a brief moment, I saw something strange in there. A pale face, staring at me.
43. The Statue
A Few years ago, mother & father decided they needed a break, so they wanted to head out for a night on the town.
They called their most trusted babysitter. When the babysitter arrived, the two children were already fast asleep in bed. So the babysitter just got to sit around and make sure everything was okay with the children. Later that night, the babysitter got bored and went to watch a TV, but she couldn't watch it downstairs because they did not have cable downstairs. So, she called them & asked them if she could watched cable in the parent's room.
The parent's said it was okay, but the babysitter had one final request - she asked if she could cover up the statue outside the bedroom window with a blanket or cloth, because it made her nervous. The phone line was silent for a moment. And the father who was talking to the babysitter at the time said, "Take the children and get out of the house ... we don't own a statue !"
The police found both of the children & the babysitter both slumped in pools of their own blood within 3 minutes of the the call. No statue was found.
44. The Elevator
The story goes like this: you decide to ride the elevator, you're going up. The murderer will get in with you. He'll wait for you to press the button and he'll press the button of the floor right below you. When you get to that floor, the door will open & the murderer will go out. As the doors are about to completely close, he will turn around and in the small opening between the two doors , you'll see his knife. Then you'll hear him say "I'm gonna kill you at the next floor." He'll then run up the stairs & wait for you. When the doors open, he will be there and kill you. The worse part is not the death itself, but the sheer horror you'll experience in between those two floors, when you're trapped in the elevator and you know you're going to get murdered.
45. The Chat room
A young boy meet a new friend in a chat room and began talking to him regularly, the friend was from out of state but would be in town in a couple weeks and they made plans to sneak out and meet. The boy began to feel odd about the arrangement and confessed the whole thing to his father. The father contacted the authorities and after a couple hours the chat was traced to a local prison, the prisoner who'd been using that computer was scheduled for release in two weeks.
46. Lost Phone
Last night a friend rushed me out of the house to catch the opening act at a local bar's music night. After a few drinks, I realized my phone wasn't in my pocket. I checked the table we were sitting at, the bar, the bathrooms, and after no luck I used my friend's phone to call mine. After 2 rings someone answered, gave out a low raspy giggle, and hang up. They didn't answer again. I eventually gave it up as a lost cause and headed home.
I found my phone laying on my night stand, where I left it.
47. Black & White
I don't know exactly why but ever since I was a small kid, I could see people for who they really are. White is good and black is evil. I very rarely see whites but I very rarely see blacks too. Most people are usually a shade of grey, like my step dad and little brother. My mother and older sister have always been close to white. Which makes sense for they are always devoting their time to helping out at homeless shelters. That all changed though when my big sister was found dead by the woods behind our backyard. The police said she has been asphyxiated and showed signs of rape. I will never forget my mother's cries when she found out. At the funeral, my sister laid there on her casket. The purest white i'd ever seen. I looked over to my little brother. He was only four and did not fully understood what was happening. Standing next to him was my step father, he was pitch black.
48. The Bride.
A young man and his new bride were honeymooning in Paris when his wife went into a restroom and didn't return. With time, the man began to fear the worst and went to the police. The police thought it was most likely the girl simply had second thought about the marriage, but they checked it out anyway and found no evidence of foul play. As weeks turned into months, the man finally gave up on finding his beautiful wife, but his life fell into a shambles, he was so filled with grief. Unable to hold a job or go on with his life. He took to wandering the world looking for anything that might ease his pain. Years later in Borneo, he came upon a freak show in an old shabby building, he went in on a whim. In the last filthy cage, he saw a twisted, scarred and mutilated woman rocking back and forth and groaning strange animal-like noises. He screamed as he recognized the birthmark on his wife's face.
49. Braid
I was heading to the bathroom on the second floor of my aunt's house when I saw my cousin, April, on the stairs. April was four and very animated. She was busy making funny faces while sitting on the stairs. I asked her what she was doing. She said, " I'm copying the lady with the braid. "I looked around, there was no one else but us. I asked, "Where is the lady, April?" She pointed to a beam running parallel to the stairwell. I asked April, "What is the lady doing?" She said, "makin' funny faces." I smiled and started walking up the stairs again when April said something that stopped me in my tracks. "Her braid is around her neck." I turned back and asked April to repeat herself. April pointed, "the lady is hanging by her braid... she's making funny faces." Then April started making face which I then realize was it someone gasping for air.
50. Confirmation Number (by Human_Gravy)
When the worker scanned my ticket, the machine beeped and blared piercingly.
"Sir, I believe there's an error on your ticket. The confirmation number doesn't match with our files. Could you please wait to the side?" As the last passenger walked through the gate, a courier delivered a manila folder. The worker paged through quickly and found what he was looking for.
"Just as I suspected, there was a clerical error. It happens more often than you would think. I apologize for the mistake," the worker explained as he ripped the ticket in half, a bright light blinded me. I closed my eyes and when I opened them I was in a hospital bed surrounded by doctors and nurses that seemed relieved that I was awake. It only lasted a few seconds, as the sound of a machine beeped and blared piercingly from the bed next to mine.~*~
