BOOK #1: A STAR SPANGLED HEART

Author's Note: I highly recommend reading Metallic Charms before reading this as there are parts which may not make sense at all to you if you don't. (link: http://www.wattpad.com/story/1549916-metallic-charms-an-avengers-fanfiction )

Disclaimer: I do not own Steve Rogers // Captain America or any other characters you recognise throughout this short story -besides Noel Barton, who I may reference. I also do not own S.H.I.E.LD -sadly. I only own the plot, the S.P.A, Hector Evans, Lydia Marvin, Cordelia Samson and Skylar Evans -and probably a few others.

Chapter 1: The Stork Club

~~~~~~~~~~~{Third Person}~~~~~~~~~~~
Steve didn't expect to end up here when he'd left the hellicarrier that morning, but he did. He removed his helmet and kicked the stand down before running a hand through his blonde hair and stared up at the sign above the door.
The Stork Club.
He was hesitant to go inside. How much had it changed? Had it changed at all? Who owned the place now? Was Peggy inside?
Steve shook his head to clear it, of course Peggy wasn't inside. Relax, Steve. Just go in.
~~~~~~~~~~~{Sky's Point of View}~~~~~~~~~~~

I wiped down the bench and placed a cold beer on it in front of the middle aged man with grey hair, dark brown eyes and a beer gut the size of a small house as the bell attached to the top of the door gave out a slight ding.

I popped my head up to catch a glimpse at the new customer.

He was handsome, with short blonde hair and very well built, dressed in a white v-neck t-shirt and blue jeans with a brown leather jacket hanging over his arm. The tight tee he was wearing barely containing his massive arms. The man sat in the corner and tapped his fingers in rhythmic time with the music playing on the speakers, which turned out to be a Gym Class Heroes song that I liked.

"Hey, Hector, is my shift up yet?" I called across the room over couples talking. It was a Friday afternoon, one of our less busy times of day, but as soon as it five o'clock, this place would be full of people.

"Five more minutes, Sky!" He shouted back and went back to conversing with a female customer who looked sort of familiar, but I couldn't place where I'd seen her before.

"I'm gonna be late..." I mumbled to myself, grabbing my notepad and pen and heading towards the man in the corner.

I stood in front of the table and recited the greeting with as much as enthusiasm as I could muster without sounding condescending. "Welcome to the Stork Club, my names Skylar, I'll be your waitress for today. Are you ready to order?"

"Ah, sure." He replied with an easy smile, "What are you specials?"

I checked my notepad, "Pumpkin soup with a half sandwich or the roast of the day which is lamb."

"I'll have the roast, please." He replied politely,

"Any drinks?"

"Just water, thanks." I jotted it down and nodded before walking towards the kitchen.

"Hey Zoe." I smiled as I slid the guy's order under a magnet.

"Hey Sky." She smiled back and pointed to the clock on the wall, "Aren't you late?"

"A whole ten minutes late, but you know Hector." I sighed just as he came in behind me.

"You're off the clock." He told me, but I was already out of my apron and tossing him the notepad and pen before running out of the club with my bag and heading towards Lydia's house.
