Not For the Light Hearted

(I highly recommend reading Metallic Charms, A Star Spangled Heart and Metallic Hearts before reading this as there are parts which may not make sense at all to you if you don't.

Disclaimer: I do not own Steve Rogers / Captain America or any other characters you recognise throughout this short story -besides Noel Barton, who I may reference. I also do not own S.H.I.E.LD -sadly. I only own the plot, the S.P.A, Hector Evans, Lydia Marvin, Cordelia Samson and Skylar Evans -and probably a few others.)

Chapter 1: Break

{Sky’s Point of View}

All I remember is Tony breaking the news to us slowly. The look on his face was like he was in complete agony; as if he were a surgeon and he had to tell someone that their beloved didn’t make it.

I remember Clint’s blank stare and Natasha soothing him, trying to make him feel better all the while trying to deal with the news of her best friend being gone.

Starlie dropped her glass to the ground and it smashed into a thousand tiny pieces. She was too shocked to pick them up.

Steve left the room, rubbing the back of his neck and muttering some choice words under his breath. I knew he felt betrayed, we all did. But I remembered that Steve had told me he used to have feelings for her. He was angry that he’d stuck his neck out for the girl and at the drop of a hat, when things got tough; she bolted to the other side.

Tony’s face... I don’t think I’ll ever forget his face. For the first time in a long time, he didn’t look like he had a hangover, he looked extremely sobered up and sad. Depressed. Lonely. Like the rest of us, he wanted answers –no, he needed answers.

But it was Bruce’s rage that was our undoing. He growled, his eyes turning black before a stunning green. We all knew that was a catastrophic sign. But he was able to control himself, keep the anger under control. He was pissed, Noel had just taken off, after all his work to keep her alive during her coma days, it was like she didn’t appreciate that.

We all had valid arguments to hate her. Most of us do.

But I don’t.

Once Fury got word of this, he flew Thor and himself out to New York from the new S.H.I.E.L.D Headquarters to hold an emergency meeting.

“Alright.” Fury sat in front of us. As if the past few days hadn’t been weird and confusing enough, Fury was being completely calm and sitting in front of us, not standing like usual. “I think it’s obvious where we go from here.”

“Yeah it is, we send Thor back to Asgard –that’s obviously where Noel is. We need her back!” Clint exclaimed and Tony nodded in agreement.

“Noel made her choice.” Fury silenced them under his fierce iron gaze. “I know you’re all shocked, and you’re all probably feeling some sort of betrayal. Which is why I’m temporarily disbanding the Avengers Initiative.”

There was silence in the room before chaos erupted.

“Are you insane?”

“What if Enchantress comes back and we’re scattered across the globe?”

“Did you swallow a crazy pill this morning?”

“You need us more than ever, Fury!”

“How are we supposed to find Noel if we’re in different locations?”

That last argument was Tony.

And Fury had definitely had enough of our bickering.

“Noel made her choice!” He exploded. “When she did, she became the number one most wanted criminal on S.H.I.E.L.D’s watch list! You want to find her? Be my guest, but you’ll be competing with us, because as of now, until I call you back, you do not work for S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Author's Note: Hey guys! So, first chapter of 'NOT FOR THE LIGHT HEARTED,' finally posted! Sorry it took so long, it's just taken a while for me to get back into the swing of things after that incredibly busy holiday season.

So, Fury pretty much flipped his shit. Tony is feeling alone, Steve is feeling betrayed, Bruce is pissed off, Starlie is just like 'what the hell just happened,' Natasha is trying to deal with having no girl friends, Clint is terrified that he'll never see his baby sister again, Sky is just as shocked as everyone else but sort of understands and Thor...well...he's no where to be found, the cheeky little Asgardian.
