Chapter 6: Hit List

~~~~~~~~~~~{Steve's Point of View}~~~~~~~~~~~
I stared at her through the glass. I couldn't believe Director Fury had just done that. He'd given away my identity to a possible enemy assassin.
I couldn't believe that Sky was an assassin. She didn't seem like the type at all. Sky wasn't at all like Natasha or Clint. I couldn't compare her to anyone, she was someone I could barely describe with words.
The glass shuddered again and I lost sight of Sky. She didn't say anything in response to the glass changing again but everyone was ushered out of the room.
"That's the girl you've been ranting on about for the past week?" Clint exclaimed, "Skylar - freaking - Ross? Boy, you sure know how to pick 'em. Why couldn't you just stay with my sister?"
"You know damn well why, Barton." I heard Tony mutter to himself.
"Stay out of this, Richie Rich." Clint snapped.
Tony chuckled, "Ooh, I haven't heard that one before."
"Guys!" Natasha rose her voice over Clint's and Tony's, drawing the attention to her, "How about we let Cap just explain himself."
"I had no idea who she was, Clint." I told him and completely disregarded his comment about Noel. "She told me her name was Skylar Evans. She didn't look or act like an assassin or trained spy, she works in The Stork Club for crying out loud!" I rose my voice a little, getting frustrated.
"If you haven't noticed, Capsicle, good spies don't give out their real names to people they're supposed to kill." Tony pointed out. I shrugged off the nick name, despite the two of us tolerating each other, the nick names hadn't stopped.
I didn't know how to explain it to them. Sky wasn't a bad person, I knew that, but I couldn't tell the others without them thinking that I thought that just because I wanted to -as Tony would put it- 'get in her pants.'
I sighed and ran a hand through my hair.
"It's okay, Steve." Bruce said from across the room. "Clint's just being a hypocrite."
"How am I a hypocrite?" Clint asked, outraged.
"Oh please," Tony scoffed backing up Bruce, "We all know you didn't take out Tasha because you thought she was hot."
That shut Clint up and he stormed out of the room. Natasha sat in the corner of the room awkwardly and I smiled at Bruce and Tony gratefully.
"She's not a bad person, I know she isn't." I told them.
Natasha nodded, a few strands of her red hair falling from the messy bun she'd thrown her hair up into. "I agree with you there, Cap. She doesn't seem like the old Skylar Ross."
~~~~~~~~~~~{Sky's Point of View}~~~~~~~~~~~

I stared at the glass, shock running through me.

I'd been serving Captain America for the past week.

Captain America saved me from those guys in the alley.

According to Amanda, Captain America had a crush on me.

The glass shuddered again and broke me from my trance. I couldn't see through the glass anymore and the intercom was still silent. Behind me, I heard something click before a whooshing noise and footsteps.

"Agent Ross." Fury stood in front of me, staring down intimidatingly with his hands behind his back. I'm not going to lie, I was pretty scared of him. I didn't look him in the eye, I kept my head down as I spoke.

"I'm not an agent anymore."

"Why do I get the feeling that you're lying?" Fury started to pace.

I took deep breaths and kept myself calm, yelling at Director Nick Fury was not going to get me anywhere, "If you get me a laptop I can prove it to you."

"Now, how the hell would you do that?" Fury snapped. Man, this guy had a temper.

This time I looked up and stared directly into his eye. "I can show you the hit they ordered on me."

**Flashback**

~3 Years Ago; 2009~

I stood in the bathroom, straightening my hair. New Divide by Linkin Park was blasting through my room as I contained myself from head banging to the chorus. Head banging and straightening hair don't mix well; I learned that the hard way.

It was my seventeenth birthday tomorrow and one of my friends, Natalia, was throwing a party for me in her room at the S.P.A Facility. Usually, I lived off the facility in New York with my parents and my brother, but lately, because of all the assignments they'd been sending me on, I was living at the facility with my brother, Hector.

The song in my room switched from New Divide to Fireflies by Owl City.

Hector came rushing into my room, slamming and locking the door behind him.

"Sky!" He exclaimed and I emerged from the bathroom, turning off my straightener and he switched off the music.

"What's wrong, Hector?" I sighed.

"You've got to get out of here." He was panting as if he'd just run a mile and he had this wild look in his eyes that told me that he was being dead serious about this. I noticed he held two backpacks in his hand and tilted my head in confused.

"Why?" I frowned.

And then, Hector said those three words that caused my bones to become icicles. "They found out."

Six months ago, I'd been sent to kill a S.H.I.E.L.D agent by the name of Noel Barton. They didn't tell me why, only that she was a possible terrorist threat and a deadly weapon. But when I'd found her, she was just a teenage girl, my age, who was attending MIT on the undergraduate accelerated learning program. I didn't see what made her a threat, so I decided to lie.

I told the Council that I'd taken her out and they'd believed me. Until now.

"How?" I whispered, horrified.

"I don't know. But we need to get you out of here, now." Hector ordered and tossed me a backpack. I opened it up and looked inside. There was a passport, about five grand in cash, a spare change in clothes and a variety of hand held weapons.

"Where are we going to go?" I asked, closing the pack and slinging it over my shoulder.

Hector shrugged and stood at the door. "I'm not sure. Far away from here. They've ordered a hit on you."

"Who's supposed to take me out?" I didn't want to know, but I needed to.

Hector opened the door and looked over his shoulder at me. "I am."

Hector hit the ground running and I followed him. He wasn't going to take me out, if he was, he wouldn't have told me and he wouldn't have given me a backpack full of weapons, obviously.

I chased him to the edge of the facility and we jumped the fence just as we heard the alarms going off.

Authors Note: Hey guys! So, just a quick thing before I get into this note: Please note that Sky and Hector Ross have no relation what so ever to Betty Ross (former girlfriend of Bruce Banner) the same last name is pure coincidence!! Also, Sky and Hector did change their last names while being on the run from the S.P.A to 'Evans.' They also have no relation to Chis Evans (actor who plays awesome super hunk Steve Rogers / Captain America).

Now that that's out of the way!

How'd you like the chapter?

:O Sky was supposed to kill Noel, WHAT?!

:O Hector was supposed to kill Sky, WHAT?!

Did you guys like the Clint vs. Tony vs. Steve vs. Bruce thing going on in the beginning? I thought it was funny. Hehe, Richie Rich.

Anyways! Chapter 7 is coming soon, in fact, I've already written half of it, so it should be up soon :)

Until the next upload; comment, vote, like!
