Chapter 7: History Will Repeat

{Sky's Point of View}

Steve was seething. I could both see it, and feel it -it radiated from him like Bruce emits gamma radiation. His pale blue eyes darkened with fury and his hand, which had been covering mine on the table, atop the red tablecloth, was now made into a fist.

I had a hunch that I knew why he was like this. Alexandra was Asgardian, and that was clear as day when she walked into a room. And whenever I was around her, I felt uneasy, like something was off and she knew something that we didn't. My best guess, was that with Alexandra being Asgardian, it brought back the pain of Noel leaving for Steve. Brought back the betrayal and hurt.

I reached out and placed my hand over Steve's fist.

"Calm." I whispered. "Let her talk."

"Thank you, ma'am." Alexandra smiled and Steve frowned. He obviously wasn't happy with the arrangement, but he was going to suck it up.

"Let's ...Let's go to the Club," I suggested, "I think we'd all feel more comfortable talking there."

I had been about to suggest going back to our apartment, but I knew that was a bad idea.

Steve and Alexandra nodded and we paid, got in a cab and left.

I unlocked the Stork Club door, it wasn't that late, but it was a Monday night, and the Club closed early on weeknights.

The three of us sat awkwardly on bar stools, Steve tapped his finger in a beat -a habit that he had picked up from the months spent with me.

"The last time you were here, you mentioned that you wanted to see Captain America -you found him." I said, gesturing to Steve whose lips turned up in a little smile. I think he felt kind of proud that he was known on an intergalactic level.

"Yes, yes." Alexandra nodded. "I wished to speak to you about my vision."

"Your vision?" Steve questioned and she nodded, a few strands of blonde hair coming loose from her bun and framing her face.

"Yes, I am -what do you humans call it? A prophet?" Alexandra frowned, not quite sure how to describe herself.

I sat up straighter. "You mean a psychic? Like Shawn Spencer?"

"Who?" Alexandra's frown deepened.

"He's a detective from a show we watch." Steve explained, "Please, continue."

Alexandra nodded eagerly, "Of course. You see, I often have visions of Earth, but not dire situations like I have just seen. I saw red flags and a red face, with black two-headed symbols on the flags. The world was dark, not in the lighting sense, but in aura. Everyone is unhappy -oppressed. Like the war -the war you fought in."

Alexandra explained and Steve's face grew dark. He knew what all those signs pointed to, and I was pretty sure I did too.

"Is it..." I started, putting my hand comfortingly on Steve's back.

Steve nodded firmly. "He's back."
