Virgil's POV
"I? Don't you mean we?" Patton asked, looking up at me hopefully. I shook my head sadly and took his hand in my own, gazing into his eyes.
"I'm sorry Patton but I have to do this by myself. If they knew that you were still alive, whoever the murderer is might try to kill you. I'm sorry but it's too risky. You can stay in my room if you want"
"Yes please" Patton smiled sadly before throwing his arms around me and suddenly sobbing into my chest. "Just please be back soon. And be careful. One side has already been killed. I don't want whoever the murderer is to kill you as well" he cried as I moved his hair out of his face, making him look up at me with his tear filled eyes.
"Don't worry Pat. I'll be fine, I promise" I kissed his forehead before heading downstairs.
"Bye Virgey! Stay safe, please" Patton called behind me.
"Bye Pat!" I glanced over my shoulder before continuing to head downstairs.
Time skip
"Why? Why did he have to die?" I heard someone sobbing as I was halfway down the stairs and I immediately ran down to comfort them.
"Shhh, it's ok" I whispered as I wrapped my arm around their shoulder.
"Sorry Virge, I guess Patton's death just suddenly kicked in and I've just been hit with a wave of emotions" The person sobbed and I immediately recognised the voice as being Thomas's. Since Patton was conscious now, I guess he had his morality and emotions back.
"Shhh everything's going to be ok. Just take deep breaths in and out" I told him, rubbing his back soothingly. Eventually, he calmed down a bit and looked up at me with a sad smile, his face red and tear soaked. "Thanks Virge. And um...sorry for the way I acted yesterday. I was kinda acting like a jerk"
"It's fine. It's not your fault anyway" Just then, I remembered why I was downstairs in the first place: to interrogate the others and find out who the murderer was once and for all. "Hey Thomas?"
"Yeah Virge"
"Can I ask you a favour" I asked and he simply nodded. "Could you call the others please? Don't bother summoning Deceit though. I've already ruled him out"
"Oh are you gonna interrogate them again?" He asked and I just nodded. "Well okay" He cupped his hands around his mouth and called out for the other two. "Roman! Logan!" They both immediately rose up.
"Oh hey Thomas! Did you want something?" Roman asked.
"Um actually, I did" I told them and they both turned around to face me.
"Oh hey Virge!" Roman smiled and I weakly waved at him.
"Hey guys! I need to ask you all a few questions, including you Thomas"
"Ugh is this about Patton's murder because I swear on my life that it wasn't me! Besides, we've already gone through this. It was Deceit" Roman told me defensively.
"Actually, I've already ruled snake face out as a suspect so it's just you three left. Right, let's get on with the questions shall we?" Groaning, everyone nodded. I could tell that none of them wanted to be here but they had no choice. "Ok first question, where were you all yesterday morning, which was roughly the time of the murder? Thomas, you can go first"
"Um well I was asleep until about 8am. I could be bothered to move so I just lay in bed on my phone texting Joan about new video ideas" he told me. Nodding, I turned to face Roman.
"So Sir Sing-a-lot, where were you?" I asked.
"I...I...ok fine I didn't want to say anything but I was in Logan's room all morning"
"And why was that?" I asked.
"Because...because-"
"Because we're dating, Logan interrupted, causing my eyes to widen.
"Well there was probably a more subtle way to say that but yes. Logan and I have been dating for a few months now but we decided to keep it a secret because we weren't sure what all of you would think. The previous night, we were watching "Big Hero 6" together in his room and must have fallen asleep together. When we woke up the next morning, we decided to just spend some more time together. Which is why neither Logan or I couldn't have done it"
"What do you mean?" I asked. "Explain"
"Well that note said something about wanting your love right? Well if both of us were already in a relationship, why would we murder someone to get your love?"
After hearing all there allabies I didn't bother asking anymore questions because I had already deduced who the murderer was.
