Katniss Pov

Katniss sat in relief another year, another reaping both her and Gale were through and safe. She sat down on the broken sofa with Prim curled in her side as they watched the recap of the reapings. None of them really stood out from the usual tributes until it got to District 11.
Katniss and Prim watched in shock as a young girl, just a year older then Prim was reaped. They couldn't believe how horribly unlucky that girl was until they suddenly heard someone volunteer!
It was non-existent in the poorer districts that someone would volunteer but when the camera pointed At the voice they could tell she wasn't the typical district 11 girl.

She had long bright red curls, big blue eyes and very pale skin and was very very beautiful. She was very small but looked very strong and determined to keep the younger girl safe.
Katniss watched in awe as she marched up onto the stage and showed no fear then smiled, she actually smiled at her opponent. You could tell that the boy had no hope and that made Katniss curious. He looked fairly strong and healthy but then she realised how brave the girl - Rose - had to be to volunteer and how confident she was. She looked like she was the kind of girl District 11 adored and that's why the boy knew he was going to die.

They listened to Caesar discussing about how Rose would get many sponsors with her completely original beauty and how different she was from the usual district 11 person. She would get very far and could even win! Katniss was sure and she knew that the reason she admired Rose so much was how she so willingly sacrificed her life how she didn't even pause to think about the high chance of death and that's what made her so brave.

Katniss knew that Rose would win because Rose had what most tributes didn't. She had hope. She had something worth fighting for.
