Bon was up before anyone else, getting herself ready for the day and trying to find ways to keep her excitement from bursting.
This was still real, it hadn't been a dream, right? Today she would start learning from a magical mentor! She wondered if she would get to go through a magic portal and find out that she was really a lost princess!?All these thoughts tumbled through her mind and she blankly stared into the bathroom mirror, her mouth dripping with toothpaste foam. Her heart was keeping the beat to a techno song as she quickly ran her brush over her hair and threw on her clothes, dashing out of the bathroom and almost knocking over Pip who had been waiting patiently.
She shook uncle Dan awake in his bed, with a restrained shout "come on, get up! Today we're going to see the fortu-- er... Calista!! We're going to see Calista! Let's go!" She continued shoving his shoulder back and forth.
"Oh! Ok kiddo, I remember!" He said with a groggy laugh as he sat up. He rubbed his eyes and squinted out the window, seeing the faint light of sunrise. "Umm, kids, I think it's a bit early to go visit someone. We should go get some breakfast first, yeah?"
Bon's excitement wavered, she stood and thought for a moment. "Yeah, ok. Breakfast is a good idea. Oh, we can bring some to Master Calista as well!"
"Oh, that's a sweet thought! Good idea. I wonder what she likes?" Dan replied.
"Everyone like pancakes!" Bon said with a slight smirk. She, for one, loved pancakes.
Pip walked back to the bedroom and saw the other two talking. Pancakes, huh? He liked waffles more...
But he wasn't about to start any argument over it, so he just stayed quiet and sat on his bed."Oh, good morning Pip!" Dan greeted him.
"Good morning Uncle Dan!" Pip smiled politely.
"So, let's go get pancakes!" Bon cheered.
An hour or so later, the sun was inching it's way towards the zenith, currently hanging just above the treetops and shining down brightly on the small town below.
Dan, Pip and Bon were happily leaving the inn's downstairs resteraunt with full stomachs. Bon carried in her hands a box, containing three pancakes and some assorted fruit, a gift for her soon-to-be magic teacher!
Bon skipped along the wide dirt path towards the cliffside bazaar they had visited yesterday, the boys following close behind her.
Past the lighthouse and down the rock stairs, they spotted the fortune teller's mobile home and made their way through the crowd. The door was open. Dan still knocked.
Before his hand hit the metal door, a woman's voice started "No need for that, come in."Bon was the first to rush inside, followed by a curious but cautious Pip. Once the three were inside, Calista set down three cups of tea.
"Shame you never got to finish your drinks yesterday, no? Let's try again.""Calista, Master Calista! I– we brought you some food! Do you like pancakes?!" Bon shoved the cardboard takeout box towards her, grinning expectantly.
Calista stood there, she seemed taken aback by the child's gift, or maybe it was her enthusiasm. Calista looked at the box and took it. "I like fruit." She responded. Then added, with a hint of uncertainty, "thank you."
Bon smiled wide and then sat down, seeming satisfied with that answer.
"Hmm.." Calista seemed to shake her head slightly, getting her thoughts back on track. She smoothly set the box aside and continued looking at the children, "Right then," she said in a down-to-business tone, "let's start by evaluating your abilities." She turned to Bon, "You, girl, you say that you saw things happen before they actually happened, and changed the outcome?"
