Thank you for reading me story! I hope you enjoyed it, though I don't have much experience with writing, I enjoyed putting this story down on (metaphorical) paper!
The original idea for this story and characters came from a dream a had a while ago that I remembered and liked enough to write an outline of.
Many things were changed from the original dream (obviously, since my dreams are usually jumbled messes with no plot line) but I still tried to make it basically the same story (which is probably why it might not make much sense in some parts, haha).
At first I had planned to make a comic out of it, but after sketching the first strip I gave up and decide to just write it. Hah. (I'm glad I did, too, I don't think the story was worth as much work as a comic, and my art skill was much worse back then.)
• Here's some info about the world that I never worked into the story:
- In the world this story takes place in, magic isn't common, and most people have never even seen any, but it is still believed to exist, which is why most people may be surprised but aren't really sceptical when Calista and the kids use magic. (Pip was very sceptical at first since he didn't believe in things he couldn't prove and hadn't seen it before. Probably 20% of people would feel this way.)
- Magic is so rare, in fact, because it's not from the world this story takes place in. It comes from another world that can be reached thru special portals. Calista is from that world, and got to this one on accident many years ago. Her RV has a sort of anchor for that portal, but she hasn't been able to open it again for a while. This portal sputtering open briefly is what caused the flash of light and magic leaking they that "infected" Pip and Bon.
- I think I had mentioned this, but "Pip"s real name is Phillip, and "Bon" is Bonnie.
Back when I was going to make this a comic, I spent a long time studying character design and trying to make them look good. Hah.
(One funny point of Pip's is he wears a bit oversized shoes, because he wants to appear bigger/taller, but hopes no one notices.)
- Pip is a year and a half older, but Bon grew first so they're about the same hight, leading some people to assume they're twins (both in the story, and actual people online when I posted pics of them lol)
- Their parents separated when they were around 2 and 3 respectively. Their mother remarried about a year later. (Their father, who takes care of Bon, has only had a few girlfriends and sees Bon as his top priority.)
- Dan is their father's older brother, but their mom still has a friendly relationship with him enough to trust him taking the kid on a trip.
His wife died a few years ago, so he lives alone.
- In my original dream, there was a scene where they went back to Calista's mobile home after the magic blast thing, and there was a raccoon in her oven that came out and then there were more like ghosty racoons? And they were sort of her pet? Yeah, it didn't make any sense cuz that's dreams for ya. I tried to add this in as Calista's little cat thing that appears only a few times.
And, just for the fun of it, here's the original note I made of my dream, so you can see what a mess it was!
"Boat/RV. Lady, kinda witchy? Gramps man. Two children, boy and girl, siblings? The children's relationship if the most interesting, it changes and I'm pretty sure they're siblings. The lady also changes, she is a loner but really grows to love them. The little house (like an RV inside) I think turns magic/high-tech, or was already(?) It can go anywhere, and or sea.
The story focuses on the children and lady and gramps traveling in (her) mobile house and often solving mysteries, with the help of their powers(?) I think they can see special things and move space?
-(Start) the lady is mysterious, maybe a fortune teller, Gramps is taking care of the kids (isnt very responsible, more comedic, like gruncle Stan/gramdpa max mixed together?) And they go meet this lady at her home, she is sort of stern and subtly wants them to leave. Then something blows outside on her RV and they all go to fix it, it let's out a blast of light and the kids get powers (but don't really understand), the lady is mildly annoyed.
Then there are racoons inside (only one at first, but then there is a ghost/after image of it?)
They go up on this cliff/hill with a lighthouse, there lots of people, and they try to use their powers to help people as practice using them?"

It took me I think over a year to write this, but I'm glad I at least finished it!
