Ch 11 Batter Up
Frisk got up before her annoying bracelet could wake her. Well, that is what she is going to tell Sans if he asks because she couldn't sleep at all. Not only was the fact that she really couldn't get to sleep because of nerves today. It was also due to a particular teacher of hers genuinely doesn't like her the same way. Frisk is determined to get past this. Frisk changed out of her "pjs" into her chef's outfit. She grabbed her little recipe card, with the details on exact ingredients to make Toriel's pancakes, but also her review mask as well.
It was still really early 5:30 as she left the bedroom. Sans is still asleep. She looked at Papyrus sleeping on the couch snoring. Frisk couldn't help but smiled his blanket laid on the floor to where he kicked it off. She picked it up and put it on her tall "potential" friend.
'These brothers' she thought to herself.
Frisk wrote a quick note on a piece of paper.
"Going to talk to Toriel cya later guys." And placed it on the table.
Frisk exited the house. The "sun" hasn't even begun to rise and is relatively dark. She is still grateful for the peace and quiet she got. It is a time to reflect and be able to let her wonder. Until a snowball hit her square in the back of her head. She spun around, and no one was there. Maybe it was that one kid Tony the one she was going to go against.
"Tony??? Isn't it a little early to be up to do this..."
No response and whaaaam another snowball again the back of her head. Frisk was scared but didn't want to give the punk any sort of gratification that they are winning."
"Ollie Ollie oxen free get out here punk."
Again no response except she looked ahead, and there was a floating snowball just hanging in mid-air.
'Wha???? Why is this place so weird?' Frisk thought as other snowballs come hurling towards her dissipating as it crashes at impact.
She had enough and ran towards the road to the ruins. Eventually whoever was torturing either got bored or decided not to pursue her. The snowballs made her soaking wet, and there was still a bunch of snow on her from the debris of the snowballs. She wiped as much as she could off, but the cold, wet snow chilled her to the bone.
The clock read 9 am by 10 am she can be at Toriel's place talk to her then get to.... she forgot about work. The second day of work and she be missing a shift. No way she could to work on time. Unless... no Sans wouldn't help her well unless I have chocolate or Chara. Just thinking that name makes her want to puke.
'I bet she is ugly.' Frisk thought to herself as she finds herself in front of "Sans"Ational "San"witches. Got to give it to Sans his ego is not hurting at all. Her stomach started to grumble as she looked at the booth. I wonder if he would mind if I just take one. As if Sans happened to know (which he did via GPS) that she needed food he popped up behind his booth. Then takes a seat in his chair prompting his legs up.
"Good morning heart-breaker I see you came all this way to eat one of my famous sandwiches. You know you could have just asked at home I would have made it." Sans says with his smile.
Frisk smiles back weakly "Haha very funny can I have one of the sandwiches."
His eye kept glancing at Frisk's eyes looking they were trying to solve a puzzle.
"Didn't you sleep well Heart-breaker?" The nickname he gave her is getting on Frisk's nerve most likely because of the new relationship statues that she gave them was "friends only until a certain Chara dies even then he would most likely never get over her." Still, her eye twitches at the nickname.
"No, I am just nervous about today." Sans made a face like ' I don't believe you' but he didn't pry instead tossing a sandwich at her. Of course, she fumbles like a fool trying to grab the flying projectile and Sans uses power to hold it up so Frisk can adequately catch it and took a bit out of it.
"You know heart-breaker you can sit over here with me. I don't bite unless you pay me." He winked at Frisk. Frisk wouldn't allow him the gratification of getting a rise out of her. She knew where they stood now.
"Sorry but I think it is probably inappropriate for a teacher to say such flirtatious things to a student. The agreement says I don't have to deal with such things." Taking another bite of the sandwich. 'Seriously the sandwiches are not that good. I wonder why he even bothers having a booth way out here.' She rolled her eyes as she kept eating.
Sans chuckled to himself as he got up from his sitting position. "So we can longer joke amongst ourselves now. Is that what it is? I can add it as a rule if you like, but I don't think that is what bugging you."
She refused to make eye contact with him, but she will need his help in a moment. "No, we can joke around, but the flirty stuff needs to end. You keep telling me that you are in love with this Chara person, but then you do stuff that .... It makes me feel uncomfortable especially we are going to be sleeping in the same room."
He nodded his head in slight agreement. Sans felt this is probably for the best anyways. He got up and stands by Frisk putting his hands in his chef pocket.
"Well look at you. Trying to be all professional and stuff. Never thought I see the day. Have you figured out what you are going to tell Toriel about today's event? Or you planning to see what her reaction will be like when Frosty sees you taking a day off." He asks sarcastically. "On the second day no less. What kind of employee are you?"
Frisk became flustered as he mocked her ignorance on simple things. He was right, but he didn't need to point them out to her.
"Speaking of which...I was hoping after I get done talking to Toriel that you can get me back to Frieden before work. Please!" Frisk begged a little at the end hoping to tap into his sympathetic side. Sans was on his phone typing something. Either he was ignoring her which that is what it seems, or he was entering a new rule just for kicks.
"I just texted Frosty and let him know that you had a cooking challenge today and he is okay with it."
In reality, Frosty received the message and wasn't the happiest about it, but Sans agreed to pay down his debt a little, so he let it go for once.
"Aren't you glad that you have a teacher who can get their student out of a cheesy situation like yours?" Sans gets up and joins Frisk where she stands as he puts his hands in his pockets. Frisk smiles lightly relieved that she wasn't going to get fired at least not right away.
"I really appreciate it ..." Frisk started before Sans interrupts her.
"I didn't say I did it for free heart-breaker I just said I get you out of it. What I will demand of you I haven't decided. Hmmm.... Well, I figure it out soon until then we better get to Toriel's place before you lose your nerve for the battle." Frisk glares at Sans.
'Of course, there is a price to pay. What would it be?' He hasn't demanded anything from her not really other than cleaning and get a job. Pretty basic things if you ask her maybe it will be doing laundry. A slight blush covers her face as it just reminds her of their new living arrangements. This was so awkward for her. They walked pretty much in silence as they made their way to Toriel's restaurant. As she walked in, she is greeted by Toriel's huge grin.
"Oh sugar it has been so long, and I meant to talk to you." Toriel comes up and hugs Frisk a little too hard as she whispers into Frisk's ear. The words seeped with venom.
"I got the bill from the Tem Shop... care to explain why there is a pie charged there?" Frisk face drops as she is released and now facing an angry goat lady while Sans stands blissfully unaware. Frisk recalled what Sans said about cheating.
"Any form of cheating is under penalty of death."
How do you convince a pissed off goat monster to not only forgive her for cheating on their battle but to allow her to cooking competition their and be her judge as well? Frisk is in so much trouble, and it wasn't even 11 am yet. She sheepishly smiles back at the monster.
"Well, I wanted to talk to you about that...." She can feel her nerves getting the better of her and Sans seemed to notice this as well. Looking between the two and their body language he figured out that Toriel must have called out her cheating someway. Sans didn't know that Frisk charged the pie to Toriel's account if he did most likely he would have called Frisk "dumb" for doing such a thing. For it was how did she think it wouldn't come back to bite her in the butt she didn't know. Sans stayed back and would intervene if he had to, but she needs to be able to handle these kinds of situations on her own.
"I think there should be some sort of punishment for this kind of thing. Cheating is a severe crime down here, and I for one am highly disappointed you would do such a thing." Toriel pondered hard about what she was going to say. Frisk found herself just relieved that nobody was there at the time before Toriel opened her mouth revealing what could possibly be her punishment.
A/N: Hey guys sorry for the late LATE... update I been going through a lot of personal things and I am glad to say I am feeling 99.99% better. ^_^ I hope you enjoy the chapter and if you also have any fanart, please send it, and you will find yours is the cover of the next chapter of the story.
More to come with several questions now popping up like
Who was the thing throwing snowballs at Frisk? It was not Sans.
What is happening between Frisk and Sans? Toriel going to toast our protaganist? Will Nicole get to a place where Frisk will be a master chef soon? All those questions eventually answered
Also, I am posting a new poll what is Toriel's punishment going to be... ooooohhhh I will take the results and apply it here ^_^.
