Lunch. My stomach was starving. I promised to meet Rykie after my last class, before lunch, by her locker. When I reached it, she was already there. I brought lunch money for my first day. Thinking I wouldn't be very hungry, I wasn't sure what to pack last night. She brought her own lunch: a tuna sub sandwich with some fresh pesto chips her Mom made. She offered to share half with me. "It's way too much for me." I pocketed my money. "Thanks! Wait. Can I pay you?" I started reaching in my pocket again for some cash. "No. No. No. I insist." Rykie promised. We found an empty and clean table and sat down. Seconds later Rami and Sami were hovering over us at the table. "I brought waters." Rami said, juggling 4 icy bottles of Fiji. "Sami told me we were all going to hang out at lunch today." Rami added. Sami just smiled. He sat down and silently began opening his bag of lunch. Rami stood up to go buy his lunch. "It's pizza day. I love pizza day!" He half shouted. Sami shook his head. "Always trying to assimilate. He loves everything American." Sami emphasized the word American. Instead he pulled out his pre-made cuisine- a hummus and feta cheese sandwich with some Falafel. "That looks good." I said my mouth watering. "Thanks, yeah.. my Mom always makes everything herself. She insists Egyptian food is the food of Gods and American food is crap." He laughed. "No offense." He added quickly. "Actually, here. Try some of the falafel." Sami said passing us each one to try. Rykie bit into hers first. "Mmm!" she exclaimed. I took a bite of my own piece. "Yum! That's great! Tell your Mom she has a fan." I giggled. "Same." Rykie countered, her mouth still half full. "Your mom's chips are awesome as well." I said turning to Rykie. "I won't ever have to buy lunch again, if I get to sit with you guys everyday." I joked. They both laughed at this.

Just then Rami returned with his pizza. A plate covered with 2 large slices of piping hot cheesy pizza. That smelled good too. He saw me eying them. "Want the first bite?" He offered. Damn, he's nice. And what the heck is happening? Why am I so hungry? I guessed my nerves were finally beginning to subside and my hunger had returned. Ravenously. Hunger for food or... him? Ha! Goodness knows I barely ate a thing last night. So I accepted. I took one small bite and then pushed the plate back. I didn't want to come across as a greedy little pig. I wiped my mouth meticulously and then took a nice swig of the ice cold water he had generously brought over to us. Rami smiled at me and then proceeded to fold his pizza in half and bit into it messily. Red sauce and cheese were covering his lips. I tried to point it out. "Where? Here?" He asked. "No. Uh.. there." I said my fingers getting closer. Finally wiping at some sauce to the left of his bottom lip. He laughed and then licked my finger. Oh my god! I felt an electric jolt to my body. That's when I knew it. He liked me too. I wasn't imagining this. I turned to look at Rykie to see what she thought but she was already lost in deep conversation with Sami. He had scooted closer to her and was sharing his hummus and feta sandwich with her. Actually feeding her pieces with his hands. I looked away, giving them privacy.

My eyes landed back on Rami's mouth. How I wanted to kiss it. I felt nervous again. But this time it was the good nervous. That I can do anything feeling. It was a good high. He caught me staring and took my wrists in his hands pulled me close and then gave me a big wet slobbery pizza kiss on my cheek. I screamed and laughed at the same time. Rykie and Sami looked up from their own little World to see what we were up to. I was blushing beet red. Rami was just laughing and wiping my face with a napkin at the same time.
