Some Hamliza to start this book off because it's an underappreciated ship.

Alexander walked down the halls of Kings College. He could care less about the excitment of the world around him; right now he just wasn't feeling it. He had just found out that his old friend from Nevis got a terrible sickness recently.

The only person who could ever make Alex snap out of his negative phase was Eliza Schuyler, a girl who was practically drenched in sugar. She was such an amazing person.

Alex found her sitting by her locker, doodling in her sketchbook. "Oh, hey Lexi!" She called at the sight of him, gesturing for him to sit beside her.

   "Hey, Betsy."

"Okay, spit it out. What's wrong, Alex?"

"Friend from Nevis is ill." He sighed: even getting the words out of his mouth was difficult.

"Oh no! I hope he gets better soon...aha, that's it! We can try to send him a 'get well soon' card! He'll know that you're thinking of him and hoping that he gets better. Don't worry, Alex, your friend will be alright. We can get through this!"

Alex grinned a little at her suggestion. "...You know, Eliza, sometimes I take your kindness for granted. You're so nice to me, and I can never find ways to repay you."

"Oh, hush!" Eliza giggled and flashed him one of her pearly, perfect smiles. "You don't need to repay me. It's just what friends are for; besides, I like helping people when they're in situations, or facing problems. School is almost over, by the way. How about you come over to my house today and we can bake or something?"

"That would be nice. Thanks, Eliza...for everything."

Suddenly a beautiful blue light came off of Eliza, and she could see it too. The two of them made eye contact, and Alex watched as Eliza's face heated up.

   They were soulmates.

Alex leaned in closer to Eliza by instinct. She did too.

...

The kiss lasted for a slight moment, but that moment was the best one Alex had ever experienced.
