Chapter 5 - The Promise

Jamaad's P.O.V (wow, what's this?)

I watch silently as Siara walks into the guildhall. My stomach churns as her hair whips behind the door and out of sight. The girl I once knew, the one I once loved. Now I can't even touch her. I was so happy when she had come back, overjoyed really. But I can't tell her about that time. To see her now with a new life, I can't bring myself to do it.

I make my way back to Lucy's apartment and greet the group outside. Surprisingly they are all still waiting. I walk over, grabbing their attention.

"So, how'd it go?" Natsu asks.

"I managed to get her back to the guild in one piece if that's what you mean," I reply. "We had a little struggle on the way, but we managed."

"Aye, at least she is okay, right?" Happy asks, peeping over Natsu's shoulder. I shrug my shoulder. I don't actually know, and I don't particularly want to think about it.

"Anyway, I'm heading home. See you around, you three." I wave over my shoulder as I move on.

-

I saunter down the road, lost in thought threw most of the journey. Eventually, I make it to my apartment, lucky to come back to reality before missing it.

The apartment is just as I left it; neat and quiet, as it has always been. Once I enter, I take off my gear and head straight for the kitchen, grabbing something to munch on. I sit down at the counter and pick up a book off to the side. Reading through, I find my mind drifting again, and I have to restart the page all over again.

After a prolonged repetition of this, I give up on continuing and put the book down. I lumber off to the bedroom where I change out of my work gear. I move off to my bedroom next and slip into the comfiest bed known to man, or womankind. I gradually pull up the blanket, just enough so it grazes my chin.

Without much effort, I drift off into an uneasy sleep where my dreams are filled with horrible images of people running, screaming, and Siara. I see her by that stream again, a horrid light consuming her body slowly. She looks over to me with that scared smile of hers and mouths words I wish were never uttered.

"Wait for me, will you?" she says. She smiles brighter before her mouth closes, and she is gone.

"I will..."

-

I wake up with a start. The cool morning breeze drifts through the window, chilling the sweat that has accumulated on my body. I wish I could say that that was just a dream, but I can't. It was that same memory that has been torturing me for years. One I don't ever want to remember again, but no matter how hard I try, I can't forget what I saw.

I roll out of bed with a horrible taste in my mouth. I walk over to the open window and close it to an inch so that the wind would keep the room fresh but not frozen.

I don't feel like visiting the guild today. So, maybe a walk will do instead.

-

The rain starts to come down as I gradually make my way over to Fairy Tail. I let the rain fall on me, the drops feeling like ice as it hits my skin. I don't really care, it's not the first nor the last time that this will happen. I close my eyes and tilt my head skyward to let myself be consumed by the weather. But, somehow, the water stops falling, although the loud splattering of it is still audible. I open my eyes and see what appears to be a dome of solidified water over my head.

"You're gonna catch a cold if you keep this up," I hear a sweet voice cut through the rain. Looking around, I notice a fuzzy figure of a girl a few feet away. She moves closer, and her beautiful face comes into focus.

    "Hi, Siara."
