"How long has it been?" Vanessa asked. "Four years?" I nodded. "Sigh. It was all my fault." Here she go again, putting all the blame to herself.
"No. It's not your fault, okay? No one wanted that to happen, no one." I hugged her tightly to lessen the loneliness she feels inside.
If it weren't for me, our little angel would have been here by our side.

Four years ago, I was on a mission when that happened. I was with Officer Rouge back then and we were on a chase. I didn't noticed that Vanessa was calling me.
BANG! BANG!
"They're firing at us." Officer Rouge said.
"I got this." I picked up my gun and started firing back. Roughly an hour passed when the chase ended and the suspects also ended up dying. We called for reinforcements and while Officer Rouge was at it, I grabbed my phone and was shocked to see a hundred missed calls from Vanessa. I tried calling her but she won't pick up the phone. "Shit!" I ran towards Officer Rouge and told him that I need to go.
"Sure Inspector, I can take care of things here. You must go to Vanessa now."
"Thanks!" I then drove away from the scene and went straight home.
I don't know how should I feel. My whole body's covered in sweat. I'm driving really fast right now just to get there. I kept on dialing her number but still no answer.
"Pick up Vanessa, please."
When I get there, I ran out of the car and went straight inside. I saw her lying on the floor, unconscious.
"Vanessa!" I ran towards her and tried to wake her up. "Wake up babe, please." She still has a pulse. I carried her immediately and brought her to a hospital but it was too late.
Vanessa's out of danger but our baby died. Our angel died, we lost our baby and it's all my fault. I'm the one to blame not her.
She was traumatized after that. She won't eat, drink and even talk to anyone. She just kept on crying, day and night. I tried talking to her but it's no use. That same night I went to visit and tried to talk to her, another tragedy happened.
My dad died in an accident. His car crashed down a cliff while he was on his way home. I can't put into words how devastated I was. I'm speechless and my body stiffen when I heard what happened.
But it doesn't end there. Just when Vanessa started to recover from the death of our baby and me on the death of my dad, her mom had a cardiac arrest and eventually died.
Both our families suffered great losses. It kinda feels like we're cursed or something after the deaths of our loved ones. And the last thing that happened, I myself almost died.
I was shot in the head while I was pursuiting a suspect. How unfortunate, I was also in a coma for a year. The doctors said that it was a miracle I survived. I guess my baby doesn't want me to die yet.

"Let's go? We'll be late for our dinner with your mom and my dad."
"Wait." I kneeled down and kissed my baby's tombstone. "I love you my little angel. We'll be back, okay?"
"We both love you our angel, always."
