Chapter 3

Alex and Cat both walked into their biology class and to the back of the room. They sat down by one another, with an empty seat the end of the row. Their teacher, Mrs. Higgs was usually ten minutes late because she had to eat her food slowly. Today, she was on time.

Cat whispered, "Why is she smiling like that? Do we have a test or something?" Alex shrugged and looked around the room.

"Everyone else is just as confused, love."
"Class!" She exclaimed, making the class jump. "We have a new student! I know it seems odd to get a new student around this time but please make him feel welcomed." Cat tensed and looked at Alex, who completely ignored her and looked at the door.
He walked in.

"They answered my prayers. The gods are real." Alex let the breath he was holding, out and rested his hand over Cats. "I think he is a god, Kitkat."

Cat scuffed and shook her head. It amazed her how easily Alex could fall for someone.

"He his in a grade above you so this may be the only class he has with you guys. His past school did the sciences differently." she turned to the boy. "Please, introduce yourself."

The book took a shaky breath before he managed to get a word out. "Hi, I'm Ashton. I'm from Hornsby." he shrugged a little and looked at the teacher. She smiled happily.

"Welcome Ashton!" she looked around the room. "Ah, so we do have an odd number, how about you pair with Clifford and Yates? If they cause too much trouble, especially Yates, just let me know."

Alex went to say something but Cat hit him in the thigh.

Ashton made his way to the back of the room and sat at the empty chair beside Cat. He seemed tensed.

"I'm Alexander." Alex reached his hand in front of Cat to get to Ashton. " Yates, I guess I'm the trouble maker."

"You are." Cat muttered and pushed his hand away to look at her paper.

"Ah and this is Catherine. Or Cat. Just Kitkat is my nickname for her."

Ashton studied them. "You can call my Ash."
They worked on their biology lab packets for the rest of the period, exchanging a few ideas with the work they had to do.

Few hours later

"Catherine!" Michael yelled down the hall. He always wanted to make sure the whole school to knew they were related. Mainly so the guys stayed away from her. She noticed Ashton standing beside him. "I have football(soccer) practice after school so I won't be home until later. Ashton is also coming over, too. He's joining the team." Mikey pointed at Ashton,smiling. Mikey smiled a lot now.

Cat groaned as she turned to face him, her face turning slightly red. "Okay, awesome. I'll let Aunt Livvy know in case she has something to do tonight. Also Alex will of course be over." Alex grinned beside her. Michael came up to ruffle Alex's hair in a brotherly way.

"Awesome! I'll see you guys tonight." he called out as he walked to the exit."

Alex protested and fixed his hair, glaring after him. Ashton trailed off after the team.

Later that evening Cat was curled up beside Alex as the watched Shameless. Aunt Livvy had gone out with one of her friends for the night. She laid her head on his chest.

"This show is amazing." Alex said while playing with her hair. She pulled a blanket up more over them. 

 "That's only because you love Ian." Alex rolled his eyes. They both jumped when they heard the door open.
