Mike and i'd chat just cut off by the door slamming shut. "Marie? you home already?" Mike asks. our 14 year old daughter, Marie , answers harshly, "i don't wanna talk about it!"
we hear stomps going up the stairs and her bedroom door slamming shut. i look at Mike and he looks concerned. i tell Mike to wait a second and i go upstairs. i knock on her door, "Marie? please tell me what happened. let me in please"
she scoffs but tells me "fine. come in"
"trust me. it'll feel a lot better if you tell someone" i say, walking over to her. she's on her bed with her knees up to her chest. she's crying her eyes out. "what happened to your date? what happened with Justin?"
Mike walks in and stands in the doorway.
"he.... he broke up with me" she says in between sobs
i look up at Mike then look back down at Marie.
Mike walks over and says, "if he can't see how amazing you are, he's not the right guy for you"
"i wanna move on. but i like him too much. i cant make myself move on" she says
i look up at Mike. he knows it too.
"Marie... did you know something like that happened with your dad and i?"
she looks up at both of us. "you... guys broke up?"
"well...." i start to say and then tell the story....
Flashback---
YOUR POV
"i cant keep doing this. i'm sorry" Mike says and then leaves. leaving me in my doorway. heartbroken. i shut the door and flop down on my couch and have a breakdown.
MIKE POV
i stop in my tracks.
why did i do that?
i'm so stupid.
i still love her. i always will.
i sprint as fast as i can to her house.
she answers the door with red, swollen eyes.
"i- i made a mistake. i love you. i'm so sorry. i shouldn't have done that. i'm an idiot." i say and look down as tears escape from my eyes.
i look up and she's slightly smiling. "i forgive you Mike" i pull her into a hug and kiss her cheek
END OF FLASHBACK
Mike wipes a tear i didn't notice was there. Marie looks at me sympathetically.
"you came back in less than five minutes" i cry/chuckle at Mike. "breaking up with you was the worst mistake i've ever made in my whole life" he smiles and pulls us into a hug.
later that week, i learned that Justin came back to Marie and told her he was so sorry and felt like an idiot breaking up with her. she forgave him and they're back together.
