my attention turns to Mike when he comes out of the room. he's sobbing like crazy and Hoppers arm is around him. i walk over to Mike and Hopper lets go. "Mike..." i put a hand on his back and sit down with him and hug him until his breathing goes back to normal. (a/n: does anyone ever cry so hard that you can't stop and your breathing gets a weird and hiccupy. no just me? ok)
"thanks y/n" he says before the group has us make a plan.
we all decided that Joyce, Nancy and Jonathan take Will to get the shadow monster out of him, and Mike, Dustin, Max, Lucas and Steve go to the Hub and Hopper and i close the gate.
Mike walks out the door clutching my hand.
"be careful, alright?" i say, turning toward him.
"me? i'll be fine y/n. you be careful. please. closing the gate will drain you. you could die" he stares into my eyes
"at least i know you'll be safe" i say
Mike sniffs and tries to hold back whimpers.
"just please be careful. i cant lose you again."
"you won't lose me"
he sniffs again and i let a tear escape my eye
he leans in and pecks my lips
"promise?"
"promise"
