I parked the car and looked into the back seat and saw that Rae had fallen asleep with tears still in her eyes. I sighed as I climbed out of the car and quietly shut the door behind me as I walked to the back door.
"Come on peanut." I said quietly unbuckling her seat and pulling her into my arms. "Lets get you inside now okay." She opened her eyes and tilted her head to the side studying me as we made are way into the house. "What's going through that pretty little head of yours?" I whispered as I shut the front door behind me.
Her cheeks turned pink as she studied me a few seconds longer before dropping her head on my shoulder "Nothing." She said with a small sigh.
"Are she sure peanut?" I asked rubbing her back "You can tell me anything remember, anything at all."
She pulled back and looked at me, her head tilted to the side in that adorable way that always makes my heart melt. But she shook her head and dropped it on my shoulder tightening her arms around my neck.
"Okay baby, maybe later." I said with a sigh as I walked into the kitchen and leaned against the counter. "What do you say we make some lunch hunh? Maybe peanut butter and jelly sandwiches."
"Okay." She said quietly as I set her on the counter and grabbed what I needed to make the sandwiches. Once I made one for her and one for me I picked her up and sat her at the table, so I could sit across from her. She took a bite from her sandwich and watched me as she slowly chewed and swallowed. She ate half of her sandwich this way before I had to cut in.
"You're killing me smalls." I said earning me a tiny giggle "You gotta tell me what's going through your head baby, please?"
"Back in code 12." She said quietly after a few seconds of silence "We didn't really have any littles or caregivers. Only subs and doms. I don't know a lot about littles and caregivers." She said with bigeyes.
"That's okay sweetheart." I said with a smile standing up and walking around the table to kneel in front of her. "All I want you to do is be yourself and everything else will fall into place."
"Our neighbors Jon and Sara they're a dom and sub couple. They were really nice I liked them. Sometimes when Dad got really scary Mom would tell me to go to there house." She said "But onetime I saw Sara using a big stick thing to hit Jon on the back. But it wasn't like when Dad hit Mom I think Jon liked it." She said scrunching her eyes together in confusion.
"That's part of some dom and sub couple dynamics sweetheart." I said trying not to laugh "Jon and Sara probably knew what they were doing."
"Do you have a big stick?" She asked with big eyes "because I don't think I would like it very much."
"I will never ever hit you peanut." I said holding onto her hands "I promise."
"Okay" She said with a smile leaning into me for a hug. "If you don't hit me with big sticks? Then what do you do?" She asked pulling back.
"I take care of you baby" I said with a smile "Like when we went swimming or when we were on the airplane."
"So we have fun?" she said smile.
"Sometimes" I said with a laugh "But I will also keep you safe, and fed, and clean."
"I like that." She said "I didn't have that at home. Mom did try though, I know she did."
"Your Mom loves you honey." I said kissing her forehead and standing back up "finish your sandwich." As we finished are meal she skipped after me to the kitchen and helped me put the plates in dishwasher.
