Chapter 1 - Bad News

Haileys POV

I wake up on the morning of Ferbruary 19th thinking 'today is gonna be a good day'. It's my birthday, so it should be good right? Wrong. But yes, it's my birthday and I am turning 21 years old and I finally get that car I've been wanting! Well hopefully.

"Hey mum!" I say cheerily as I skip into the kitchen. "Oooo, who's all that food for?" I ask leaning against the counter, smirking.

"Oh this? I felt a bit hungry that's all." She replies bluntly taking a quick glance over her shoulder to look at me. I feel my face fall into a shocked frown as I let her words sink in. The food wasn't for me!? Okay, not only is she denying me food in general, but on my birthday? This can't be happening...

"W-what.." I finally squeak out.

She throws her head back in laughter as she starts placing long strips of crispy bacon and fried eggs onto a plate. "Im just kidding!" She chuckles. "Hun I know how much you love your food, I would never do that to you. Especially not on your birthday!" She continues while wiping a stray tear from her eye after her major laugh attack.

"Phew," I let out a breath I didn't realize I was holding in. "Thank god!"

She giggles at my comment. "Oh which reminds me, Happy Birthday sweety!"

"Thanks mum!" I give her a quick side hug before digging into my delicious birthday breakfast.

"So what's on the agenda for today sweet heart?" Mum asks while wiping down the counter.

"Eh, I'll probably just have the girls over for a bit. Maybe rent some scary movies or something." I shrug, nonchalant.

"Well doesn't Marissa have a car now? Maybe you guys could go out for a nice dinner rather than sitting here all night." She suggests.

"Yah she does but you know how simple I am, mum! The girls and I would rather just chill out, rent some movies, and probably order some pizza." I reply, handing her my now empty plate.

She sighs defeatedly. "Alright fine if you say so... When are the girls coming over? I've got some news to tell all of you!" She says, a little too excitedly.

"Uh, whenever I text them... I guess? What's the news?"

"Can't tell you without the girls, guess you'll just have to wait." She smirks.

Marissas POV

As I finish getting my stuff ready to go to Haileys, I receive a text as if right on cue.

Hey Riss! Can't wait t see ya, get your ass over here now, yah? See u soon!! Love ya :) .x

I giggle to myself before texting back.

HEY BOOB!!! Happy Birthday wanker! lol I'm just leaving! be there ASAP! ily2 <3

I immediately receive another text.

QUIT CALLING ME BOOB!!!!!!!

I just laugh it off and shove my phone in my butt pocket before grabbing my backpack and keys and walking out the door. That girl really hates being called boob. 'All the more reason to do it' I smirk to myself.

Soon I'm in my car and on the way to Haileys house.

Haileys POV

Around 1:30 is when everyone's finally here and we're all just catching up and hanging out in the living room.

I guess I should tell you about my best friends. Kallista is tall and tan with the most beautiful blue eyes I've ever seen. She has gorgeous strawberry blonde hair and a killer body if I do say so myself.

Marissa has beautiful, short, wavy brown hair and bright green eyes. That girl can light up any room she walks into. She also has the most adorable personality.

Jasmine, oh... Jasmine. Now shes one to look at. Jazz has Hazel eyes with a tint of green in them with long straight dirty blonde hair. She has a perfect body and a stunning smile. She's the jokester of the group.

My best friend in the whole world, my other half, Alyssa. She has long straight bleach blonde hair and gorgeous baby blue eyes. She has such a contagious laugh too, it's so cute. She's a babe.

And finally, me. I have long, brown, wavy hair with a little ombré mixed in and dark reddish brown eyes. I'm not exactly the tallest person around but I'm happy with my body at least. I'm the cheeky and sassy one in the group.

I clasp my hands together loudly to get their attention "So girls, my mum says she has something she wants to tell us apparently." They all give each other confused looks as my mum walks into the room.

"Alright girls so as you know your parents and I are taking that 4 month vacay to Auzzie to help Jasmines dad get used to living there for his new job," we all nod ushering her to continue. "Anyways I know you're all 20 and 21 but we still don't feel right leaving five girls here alone for that long." I'm not sure I like where this is going. "So... we arranged for you to stay with one of Haileys cousins!"

Everyone grumbles in annoyance at the thought of us having a babysitter. We're plenty old enough to take care of ourselves! "Wait, which cousin?" I ask. Most of my cousins are cool so it shouldn't be too bad. I hope.
