Lucas stirred in his sleep as he felt the sun bathing his face in natural warmth from the nearby window. As he flexed his fingers he felt weight on his shoulder and chest to which he opened his eyes and saw Vera sprawled across him, her red hair trailing over his arm and across the bed like flames licking the bedspread and her arms wrapped around his middle like she had all night when they fell asleep talking late into the night.
He smiled as he remembered the night before when they walked back to his bedchambers so that they could talk without disturbing Oriana when she was ready to sleep from her crying the night before, to which Tristan was quick to follow her and comfort her until she could finally control herself an fall asleep.
Vera confided in him her concern with Oriana and how she was handling her grief, how was she going to handle having a dragon, how was their relationship going to work out, and how were they going to defeat Salome and her evil ways.
Lucas didn't have any answers for her, but told her that they will work together and figure it out and to not doubt that he was deeply in love with her and that would never change.
Lucas smiled as he remember the kisses they shared when they weren't talking. They were the most sweetest and passionate kisses that Lucas ever had and he couldn't wait to taste he sweet lips again.
Vera stirred and sighed contentedly as she rubbed her face into his chest before her eyes popped open in alarm. When she finally looked up to see where she was laying, her eyes widened in surprise to be laying across Lucas.
"Oh no." she groaned as she pulled away from him and turned her back to him, running her fingers through her curls as if to tame their unruliness. Her cheeks flushed and refused to turn back around and face Lucas who had begun to smile at her embarrassment from waking next to him.
Lucas chuckled moved to sit up and placed his warm hand her back and rubbed in soothing circles as she shook her head, as if to wake herself up more. "Good morning." He whispered huskily as he pressed a kiss just under her ear and smirked as her spine straightened.
"Did last night really happen?" she asked hesitantly, as if he was going to tell her what happened she dreamed.
"Yes, it did." Lucas replied with a smile and turned her head so he could tenderly kiss her. "We admitted that we loved each other and then promptly fell asleep."
Vera laughed as she leaned against his arm and laid her head on his shoulder. "I thought I dreamt it all. Things like this don't happen to me. I am still trying to come to grips with it."
Lucas pressed his lips to Vera's head for a moment and just breathed in her unique scent of pine and roses that just drove him so insane that he growled low in this throat, which caused Vera to tip her head back and look at him with a small smile.
"Possessive?" Vera asked with a giggle as Lucas pushed her down onto the bed and trapped her body under his as he pinned her arms gently down.
"Only for you." Lucas answered with a wink and leaned down to kiss Vera tenderly.
Duncan yawned as he exited the cave. He scratched the back of his head and winced as the sun blinded his vision.
"Good morning." Tristan's voice called out from above the cave opening, making Duncan jump.
Duncan wanted to growl at the vampire, but refrained himself. His anger was stopping him from growing into a better werewolf. He could feel his wolf near the surface and he hated that he was constantly losing control of his emotions. He balled his fists as he fought for that control.
"You need to phase, Duncan." Tristan told the werewolf as he jumped down to his level.
Duncan looked at Tristan, his eye brow going up in confusion.
