Chapter Three

"What do you mean she is missing?!" Salome screamed at Noam, her anger flared and her dark eyes seemed to start to blaze with fire. "How could she be gone?"

Noam stood his ground, not even cringing when she screamed at him. He was used to her temper and how she screamed when she was in her fit of anger. Who could blame her for being angry? The Oriana girl was missing. He could smell her scent but had lost it at the stables. That only meant one thing. She ran away. She must have seen what had happened to Lord Cornar and ran for it. But where could she run?

Noam knew that Oriana didn't know anything beyond the castle she lived in. She didn't know where to go. Unless..... Someone who did know took her away. That had to be it! Someone who knew what was going on and knew to take her to safety or to someone who knew her destiny and to start her on her path to destroy his beloved. That in of itself made Noam angry.

Salome looked around the room, the sun was barely rising and they needed to leave before anyone came into the room and find them. Oh, how she hated that the girl got away. Her plan was absolutely perfect! She would kill the lady and lord and murder the girl and have the world at her fingertips. But no! The wretched girl had to run away.

"This is going to make it a lot harder than I had planned. " Salome said quietly. "Its not all lost. Where could she go? She has no guide, no way to know where to go. It can't be that hard to find her, right?"

Noam nodded as he looked out the window. The light was hurting his eyes. He wasn't used to the sun since he joined up with Salome. They had always worked in the dark, traveled in the dark. To the see the sun was something rare and the only thing he regretted when he joined up with his beloved. He missed the sunrise and the light. But he only regretted it when he saw the sun. Which was rare in most cases for him, but how he treasured the moments that he could see the sun.

"Come, Noam." Salome commanded. "It's time to go. We have to discuss different plans."

Noam bowed deeply and walked behind Salome, savoring the last look at the light and the warmth of the sun.

Lucas stood on a branch in a tall tree as he watched Oriana and her company arrive to the Forest of Andulin. Oriana remained in the back of her friends as they chatted about meaningless things, but she still had a small smile on her face. But Lucas could feel Oriana's grief although she tried to contain it.

That was the thing that Lucas still couldn't understand. How could his father not know about Oriana's existence as a fairy? Only a strong fairy could have started that storm the night before. But his father was the strongest fairy he knew. He had to be because he was the king. But even Lucas, his own flesh and blood, didn't measure up.

At that moment, Oriana looked up at the tree that Lucas was on and he saw her eyes widen a little as he realized that she had seen him. She brought her horse to a stop and tilted her head as she continued to watch him.

Lucas watched her for a moment and she continued to watch him. Then he smiled as he saw her lips twitch as she fought back her own smile. He gave a shake of his head and started to climb down the tree he was in to meet her face to face.

"Hello." He greeted the trio as Dustan and Vera pulled their horses to a stop. "Oriana, I presume."

Oriana nodded as she swung her leg over the horse to slide to the ground. "Yes, and you are?" she asked.

"Lucas: the king's son." Lucas responded. "He asked me to meet you here."

"He knew she was coming?" Vera asked.
