Foe

20 2 3

She was scared. Scared of what people thought of her,

Scared of rejection. Scared of being hurt.

Scared of being ridiculed.

Scared of being rebuked.

It would seem as if her fear would eat her alive,

It would snatch away the very essence of life,

Fear of the unknown wouldn't let the sleep,

It would strangle her, choke her, make her feel weak.

She would dream of saying whatever she felt like,

Dream of fearlessly speaking on the mike.

She would dream of standing up for herself,

And to stop pretending to be someone else.

But she was afraid of letting her guard down,

Afraid that these fears would make her drown.

Fear was her greatest foe,

It wouldn't let her grow.

Perhaps all she needed was a dice of trust in her actions,

A pinch of ignorance towards people who judge and never find satisfaction,

And above, love and respect, not for anyone else, but for herself.
