My eyes opened.
The floor was made up of unfinished boards of wood. I was cautious of the splinters as I moved out of the fetal position and stood up.
Pale thin trees stood out among the dark starry sky and seemed to never stop growing as I could not see where they ended. Dead pine needles sprinkled the floor. I felt cold.
His hands wrapped around my body from behind and as he squeezed me I cried tears that were like tiny little pearls. I suffocated in faults I didn't want to accept. Blood began to spill from my mouth. It mixed with my tears like watercolor paints. His hands snaked their way to my face and held it with a softness that made me sick. Was I to spend eternity in his arms? I felt cold.
Then there was no more cold.
The air felt thin and powerful.
And there she was.
The girl in my dreams.
"touch me,"
she whispered in my ear.
Our fingertips touched in the softest way.
But it felt magnetic.
She pulled me away from him and into her warmth. Cradling me like she loved me.
"You need to find me."
She slipped her hand to mine and intertwined our fingers.
She squeezed my hand and gave me a knowing look.
"The stars know everything."
