The sad excuses left Ashton Irwin’s lips faster than the word go. He took quick breaths; he knew that if he did have a heartbeat it would be speeding right now. His once close group of friends stood around him eyeing him carefully quick decisions being made before his eyes without him truly realising it.  He locked eyes with Luke Hemming’s something he instantly regretted.

Luke looked back his once decent opinion of the older boy in front of him quickly changing. Luke liked having plans, something set and clear for him to follow. But this Ashton kid was getting in the way of that.

“You made a deal with the devil Irwin” Jasper spat his hand holding Elise’s as she looked at the boy with disgust.

The two had been an ongoing thing for a while now, it seems that even in moments like these they just couldn’t get enough of each other, and the pair always had to be touching.

But the exact same thing could be said for Summer and Leon love was certainly in the air for these four.

Love.

The simple four letter word that Luke despised. He believed love was just a stupid fairytale that humans had created to make their dull life’s seem a little more colourful.

But he couldn’t help but think that love was the reason he was taking the actions he was.

Up and till now Luke hadn’t said anything just stood there his fists clenching slightly at the idiotic excuses Ashton had came up with.

Luke’s mark had started to burn his skin, something that regularly happened when he was angry. He winced slightly but quickly refocused on Ashton staring at him with unkind eyes.

“I haven’t Jasp, he offered me something, something that will help me he really doesn’t mean any harm” Ashton spoke carefully still eyeing Luke.

“Don’t call him Jasp” Elise interrupted grabbing Ashton’s attention “Only friends can call him that” she scoffed her hands going to her hips as her lips curled at the boy who had started to cower from her.

Ashton hated this he knew he was the one to blame.

“Doesn’t mean any harm?” Leon questioned his eyebrow raising at the false information Ashton had given, his arm round Summers shoulders pulling her closer to him.

“No harm at all” Ashton concluded trying to gain some confidence back.

“You idiot” Molly sounded causing Ashton to whip his head round to face her.

Ashton always saw Molly as a pretty girl, but he couldn’t help but feel her beauty was a little deadly. Something was hidden behind her alluring smile, something not so innocent, giving Ashton the impression that she could most certainly put up a fight. Espeacailly to protect the ones she loved.

“None of us had a choice about this” the once shy girl who was stood next to Molly spoke up. Her strawberry blonde hair tied back letting all her features show. Ashton gulped as he skimmed over her, her lips where pursed her dark brown eyes squinting at him.

Ashton felt an unsettling feeling at the bottom of his stomach looking at the two girls. They worked well together and he knew that. There beauty a façade; something to trick their enemies in to thinking they had it easy when he knew in reality there bark was nothing compared to their bite. But that could be said for all those who were marked, which included everyone in this small dindgy room.

“Meg is right” Summer continued shaking her head slowly at the boy who was now backed up against the mirror hanging on the pale wall.

“We had no choice, but Ash you did” summer finished peering at the trembling boy his foolish decisions being the whole reason he was in this mess.
