Lillah pushed forward and stepped out of the crowded coffee shop she had once used as a quiet study area, the door closed with a loud thud that seemed to echo through the small side street she had found herself in.
A howl of wind swept past Lillah taking her long brown hair with it as it did so, her dark mop of hair splash across her face blocking her from sight momentarily. She sighed in agrivation making a mental note to tie it up later as her not so long legs moved her away from the warm comfort of the shop.
Another strong burst of wind battled against her moving body as she pulled her cream woollen cardigan around her and bowed her head slightly trying to move her petit body to a warmer comfort.
As she took one step out of the hidden ally she turned her head searching for some place to call home for a few hours as the raging storm moved its way through the concrete jungle. People moved around her at a speed Lillah would have once seen as maybe a leisurely stroll, but since being in the busy city she had let her ‘gifts’ slip and with that her agility.
She nodded her head slightly almost as a well done because that was another box ticked off in her hope to be seen as normal.
Ducking her head down once again she squeezed past the busy business men and ignored the hollers and shouts of the working people trying to get her attention.
Her hands moved from the tight embrace she had herself in to her jean pockets, her right hand coming across something as she did so. She took a few steps forward as she carried on with her quest to find another place to sit and hopefully study for a while, she could always go back to her dorm but Jake was over keeping Lacey ‘company’ apparently. This sort of gave Lillah the impression that it was out of bounds for a while there was only so much giggling and cheesy pick up lines she could take.
Her fingers played with something in her pocket her determined thoughts pushing her forward as the heavens began to open.
She retrieved what her fingers had found entertainment in and quickly pulled it from her small pocket finally bringing the crumpled paper in to view. She quickly unfolded it and racked her brain as she tried to figure where she had gotten the small note from.
Messy scrawl was splattered across the ratty note the words close together almost as if who had ever written this did it in a hurry.
It read-
Whatever you do don’t take the pendant off no matter what, keep running and don’t look back. Stay safe sweetheart I love you.
Dakota
Lillahs eyebrows furrowed in confusion, as her hand went to her chest feeling for a pendant she never had. She shrugged the worry off and shoved the note back in to her pocket. Now wasn’t the time to be worrying over something she had no idea about. Someone had probably given it to her by mistake passed it to the wrong person is all.
She turned a corner eyes flickering past every shop in the near distance trying to look for anything that wasn’t a high end clothes store she knew she would never have a chance or the money to shop in. A small smile lightened her features at what her eyes had just so happened to land on.
Towards the end of the street wedged in between Halston Heritage and a glamorous Saint Laurent was a not so glamorous NEW YORKS FINEST. It’s flashing green lights sure where easy to spot even from a few shops down.
As Lillah neared closer she could make out more of the not so hidden café and in all honesty what Lillah saw made her smile just a little bigger. The big green sign really didn’t go with the quirky little café, its big glass windows mirroring the rolling clouds and reflections of the ones who passed by. No chairs or tables where placed outside but a red and white striped cloth hang over the entrance and steamed up windows giving the impression that due in the summer, which it was suppose to be now but the weather really wasn’t living up to its expectations, would be full with people sitting outside talking and chatting away, clinking glasses and sharing story’s that soon after would sure to be forgotten and pushed away never to be told again.
