Chapter 3: The Case

DiNozzo was running around all day, getting as much information as possible about the family they were investigating, he didn't want to let Gibbs down.

He knew that look in his eyes, which meant that this was something serious and it wasn't a time to play around, even though he was still joking around he made sure the team got as much information as they could.

McGee and Abby were down in her lab, examining the furniture, clothing, etc., that survived the fire. They had got a partial fingerprint and are running it through athis now, as well as the DNA from the bodies, that Ducky was able to get.

Ducky and Palmer were taking the burnt layer off of the bodies, before continuing the rest of the autopsy on both bodies, that's when they found a bullet in the back of the head on the male's body. "Get that up to Abby please, Mr. Palmer." Palmer took the evidence from Ducky, "Right away Doctor." He said going out of autopsy to Abby's lab.

Ziva David (Da-Veed) was on her way to Washington Hospital to switch places with Gibbs. She felt bad for the young girl, losing her 'parents' has to be hard for her. She had arrived around 0500, going to room 107 in the child's area.

She knocked gently on the door before slightly cracking it. She noticed Gibbs sitting in a chair next to the hospital bed, the girl was sitting up watching a show on the t.v. Ziva slowly walked in, "Gibbs?"

Gibbs got up, whispering something to Isabella that Ziva couldn't hear, before he walked over to her. "Ziver, her name is Isabella, she woke up around 0100 and as far as I know, she hasn't ate anything since about noon yesterday. Get to know her a little, so she'll start to trust you."

He said glancing at Isabella, before he finished giving Ziva information, "Kiddo, I have to go back to work, I'll be back tommorow, okay?" Gibbs said turning to his daughter, Isabella got a sad look, she had grown to like Gibbs in only a few hours, "Okay." She whispered.

Ziva went over to the chair Gibbs was sitting at, she looked over at Isabella who was almost asleep, she fixed the blanket pushing Isabella's hair out of her face. Ziva noticed that the young girl was fast asleep, she smiled slightly as she turned the t.v. to the news.

"DiNozzo, what do you got!" Gibbs yelled out as he entered the bullpen. DiNozzo quickly got up, with his note pad, "The male is Petty officer James Diablo and his wife is Lynn Diablo, she was under Naval jurisdiction. Ducky found 3 bullets in the Petty officer, one to the back of the head, one to the shoulder, and one to his chest right above the rib cage."

"The female, only had one gun wound, it was to the front of her head and Ducky found some drugs in her system, Abby is running the bullets and the little bit of drugs Ducky was able to get."

McGee then entered the bullpen, "Boss, Abby needs you down in the lab, now!"
