Chapter 8

Raiven's POV

I looked at the workstation and noticed that the table is still unoccupied. I checked my wrist watch for the time. It's already past eight in the morning but my assistant isn't here yet. She's late. Again.

Sierra must have a good excuse for being late or else...

I sighed.

She walked out on me last time, after yelling angrily and said she'll definitely resign from work. And now that I think of it, it was the first time I saw her that angry...hurt...and disappointed. She was always calm and composed. Though I've heard her murmuring things when she's annoyed at me, and though I once heard her yelled in irritation, she never spat angrily at me.

I was shocked, actually. The whole weekend I expected a resignation letter from her, only for formality, but it never came.

I was frustrated that day. And she was being way too affective. I already explained to her why it was inappropriate to be overly emotional at work, and if she still doesn't get it, she should consider resigning. And I meant what I said to her. I meant it well.

She was less qualified for the job; it's true. She lacked any relevant experience. She had recently left their business that had just filed for bankruptcy, too. However, the few applicants for the job were all less qualified, like her. She was only hired because her overseas college background took her to her advantage.

But she disproved everything to me.

And right now, I know to myself that if she won't resign, I won't fire her either. I can't fire her because she is very effecient. And I like her as an assistant. She always works with maximum productivity and effort and I like how good she can work under pressure.

And I guess her being passionate to work made up for all of her lates and violations. Even for her nerve to address me in such a manner the last time.

I can't count how many times I've seen her walking happily.

Tss. How can she always be that happy?

But that's not my main concern. I don't really care how she personally carries herself.

Dinampot ko ang sign pen at nagpatuloy na sa ginagawa but while I was in the middle of my busy hours, someone suddenly entered. Sierra always knocks before entering.

My eyes felt heavy and the bags under them probably got darker now that I am barely getting enough sleep. I wanted so bad to sleep but these mountains of papers and my always hectic schedule won't allow me to sleep atleast five hours at night.I probably look so sleep-deprived now.

Kryst walked towards my table and greeted me a good morning. I did not reply.

"Mr. President, tumawag ang guard sa entrance. May babae raw na kanina pa nagpupumilit pumasok."
