" 'Nesha, I'm telling you that you're going to have to get over your fear of heights."
I looked over at Shana and Kirara and shook my head.
"You know, Shana's right, 'Nesha." Kiara adds. "If Ty is taking you to Coney Island, then you have to be prepared."
"I highly disagree." I say. "I'm going to let him get on all of the roller coasters and that's that. You can't change my mind and neither can he."
Shana sighed. "You're grown. Do what you want."
My summer had been going great. My two homegirls met each other, I was happy, my man was happy, and my family was safe. Ty had been bugging me to go to Coney Island for the longest, but I had never wanted to go because of my fear of heights. Now that's it's his birthday, I have to go. I wasn't mad when he told me I had to go(well, maybe a little) because I love amusement parks. I just didn't like roller coasters.
When our girls day ended, Shana, Kiara, and I went our seperate ways. I back home only to see that Ty's parents and his brother's car was parked in two of our parking spaces. I walked up the steps and unlocked the door to our apartment.
"Hello, everyone." I say as I walked into the living room.
"Hello." they responded.
"It's so nice to see you again." Shawn says.
"It's nice to see you too." I responded.
"This is my wife, Melissa. Melissa, this is Ty's future wife, Nesha." Shawn introduced us.
"It's a pleasure to meet you." She hugged me.
"The pleasure's all mine." I say.
Melissa was tall, brown skinned, had shoulder length hair, dark eyes, and she had a curvy figure. I could see that Ty and Shawn had two different taste in women. Shawn was attracted to tall, fair skinned, curvy women. While Ty, on the other hand, preferred short light skinned, thick women.
"Ty, what are you doing for you birthday?" Ty's mom asked.
"Ja and I are going to Coney Island." Ty responded.
"That's all you're doing?" Ty's dad asked. "Why aren't you having a 'Johnson's Birthday Celebration'?"
"Because I'm don't want to have one. Remember what happened last time when the cake fell on my head." Ty argued.
We all bursted into laughter.
"That wasn't funny. I smelled like strawberries for three days." Ty pouted.
We laughed again.
"It's fine, son. You don't have to have one. I just asked." Ty's dad chuckled.
Ty loosened up.
"I think going to Coney Island is really fun." Melissa says.
"Yeah. I kept asking Ja to go, but she never wanted to. Now she's going because it's my birthday." Ty explained.
"Only because it's your birthday." I added.
They laughed.
"Would you go if it wasn't his birthday?" Shawn asked.
"No." I say.
"Why not?"
"Because I'm scared of heights and I know he's going to try and make me go on a roller coaster."
"I am." Ty snorted.
I playfully rolled my eyes at him and he entwined our hands together.
"Well, at least you're going to help him celebrate." Ty's mom reasoned.
We all agreed.
For the rest of the evening, we all talked and shared laughs with each other. It was good to know that Ty's family accepted me. That was a good sign because if, no, when Ty and I get married, I won't have a hard time getting to know his family. Other than that, Ty and I were good to go.

"Ty, when we get off of this ride, I'm going to kill you." I yelled at Ty.
We were on the tallest roller coaster in Coney Island. Ty forced me to get on the ride even though I was throwing a temper tantrum.
When we reached the peak of the ride, it jerked us downward. I screamed my head off while Ty had his hands up, having the time of his life. Once the ride was over, my voice was hoarse and Ty was laughing at me. I punched him in the chest.
"Forget you, Ty. Don't talk to me no more." I walked away from him.
"Ja, it's not my fault that you're afraid of heights. All that junk you be talking." he teased.
I continued to walk ahead of him not paying him any attention. He tried to grab my arm, but I pulled my arm away from him.
"Ja, don't be like that." He pulled me in close to him.
He looked me in his eyes then he kissed me.
"Buy me a funnel cake." I demanded.
Ty laughed. "I don't know what to do with you."
"I think I have an idea." I say in a seductive voice.
I winked at him then patted his chest.
"I think I'm ready to go home." he says quickly.
"Not before I get my funnel cake."
