Some people hate maths but I'm not one of those people. I love algebra. There's just something about finding answer I love. The adrenaline rush when you're close to reaching the finish line of finding for x or y and then the excitement and relief of figuring out the answer. It just gets to me.

I sighed after proudly finishing the equation and placing down my pen on my desk. Nia sat next to me with her eyebrows almost touching in frustration. "What did you get?" She asked me with her eyes focused on the equation as if she's watching it before it runs away from the page. "Five." I replied to her. "What? How?" She asked, dropping her pencil and running her hands on her head.

I looked at the steps she did to reach her answer. The last line however made me slap her on the back of her head. " Ouch!" She said while running her hand over her head. "Big fifteen years old dividing twenty into four and getting five." I said unamused at her. "Oh!" She realized. She scurried to change the answer before placing her pen down.

I placed my hand under my chin for support and lean on the wall next to me. The rain had stopped about thirty minutes ago and thank Lord it did. I looked outside the slightly opened doorway to see a man in a black mask entering the school doors with a gun. "What are you thinking about?" Nia asked me. My eyes widened and I sat up straight. "Gun." I whispered. "Gun? Well I mean guns are nice...especially machine guns. Those are my favorites." Nia said contently while day dreaming out loud a little.

"No. Gun!" I said pulling her towards me and pointing out to the hallway. Her eyes almost popped out of it's sockets. "Gun!" She exclaimed loudly but I covered her mouth. "Shut the hell up. Don't alarm anyone you big howler monkey." I warned her. I removed my hand from her mouth and got up quickly. "Someone call the police." I said locking the door. "Jordan, Chris and Harvey can you please push that cupboard in front the door?" I asked the three guys in class that I knew for sure can push the cupboard in front the door.

A gunshot went off and they still sat there in fear," Like...now?" I exclaimed. They rushed up and did as I asked. "Everyone…" I began saying but look around the room before seeing the stock room in the back. "Inside the stock room. Quickly." I said. Everyone got up from there seats and quickly but quietly entered the stock room while Jordan, Chris and Harvey moved the cupboard slowly but surely in front of the door. I ran to the front of the class to take off the lights.

Oh no! Luna and Elly!

I stayed with the guys to ensure they are not hurt. Gunshots began to echoed throughout the school one after the next. I dog into my back pocket to call Elly. The same time I pulled out my phone to call him, he called instead. "What's going down in your level?" He asked when I answered. "Shooting. Go through the back and get Luna on level three." I said to him. Our school is mapped out in such a way that there is three levels. The first level is the highest level where Elliott is. The second level is the middle level where I am and the third level or underground level is the lowest level where Luna is.

Elliott has to leave his class which is safe at the moment so his level will have an evacuation at this point in time. He has to go down the back stairs to get to Luna's level which will also have an evacuation at this time. He'll have to wait for her at the muster point in the football field which is the safest place off the school compound or he could meet her at her classroom which most likely knowing Elliott, he would do. After those two levels are evacuated and safe it's time to evacuate the second level which will be the trickiest.

"Keep safe kid. Remember to stay by the walls on the side of the door. The bullets won't be able to pass through the cement." He advised me. "Everyone is in the stock room and the cupboard is in front the door." I explained to him. Screams could be heard from the other classrooms and I know everyone is afraid. Hell I'm shaking at this point. "Good thinking. Stay there. The teachers say the police will be here soon." He said. "Love you Emby. Don't get hurt." He continued. "Love you too. Don't get hurt as well." I sighed. "Don't hang up the phone on me." I said to him. "I won't. I see Luna. I going to get her." He said. I can here mumbling and shuffling on the other end from other students.

"Hey guys. In the stock room." I pointed to them as soon as they were finished. The gunshots keep getting louder. The four of us ran into the dark room and locked the door. "Everyone say away from the door." Our math teacher said while helping a student who was having a panic attack in the corner. Almost everyone was on the phone with someone to help them through this horrifying time. I took deep breaths and tried to block out the sounds of the gunshots but it keeps getting louder. "Emby?" Luna asked with fear intertwined within her voice. "I'm here kiddo. I'm here." I said, letting out a breath of relief. Thank Lord she's okay.

I began to pray at this time with the entire class. Everyone was shaking but silently said their prayer to put an end to this madness.

Dear God, if you're listening I would really like to make it out of this shooting alive and I would like you to keep my brother and sister safe most importantly. God, I hope no one gets killed or seriously injured. Lord help everyone to make it out of this alive. God please help us.

"Em." Nia whispered as soon as I finished my prayer. She scooted besides me with her phone clutched to her ear. I grabbed her hand and wrapped it around mine. "We're going to be okay. We're going to be okay." She kept on repeating. "Emby?" Elly said on the phone. "Yes." I answered under my breathe. "Just breathe little sis. Just breathe." He said. "Where are you?" I asked him with tears sliding down my cheeks. My heart thumped louder than the gunshots. I'm a going to have a heart attack?

"In the football field. The police are entering the school." He alerted. "Don't worry. I'll be there soon." He said with a cracking voice. "I know you would." I whispered to him. "Just make it fast please." I cried to him. "I wish Emby. I wish. Just hang in there." He assured. I hugged on to Nia and began to cry even more. Her tears wet my shoulder and mines covered her arm. "We'll be okay." I cried out, trying to give out some sort of assurance.
