Chapter Ten: The Way My Bank Account Is Set Up… (Neal’s POV)
Rhode Island Hospital: Providence, Rhode IslandI really regret staying up till four in the morning. Then again, I don’t. Reina was… refreshing?
After I got ready, I managed to stroll into the hospital at 7:58. Smooth Neal.
I went to my office, where Reina had taken over my computer and was scrolling through x-rays. I noticed she was wearing her glasses.
“Why the glasses?”
She jumped, probably not expecting me to see her. Well she wasn’t invisible.
“Oh, sorry. I didn’t mean to be on your computer—I mean I was only looking at x-rays and—sorry.”
It was cute when she rambled. Wait, was I supposed to be mad about that? Wait, did I say cute?
“Don’t worry. That’s cool with me. You didn’t answer my initial question though.”
“Oh… I forgot to pick up my refill prescription of contacts. I need to do that today during my break. I know, the glasses aren’t that cool but—“
“Are you kidding me? I love those kinds of glasses. I mean, I hate the whole hipster style people have tried to put together with them, but as glasses they’re cool.” I began to sit my stuff down on the desk, and Reina didn’t realize that she was still in my chair. I really didn’t mind so I sat down on the other side.
“Oh.”
“Why don’t you like them?”
“I just don’t. I mean, my mom says they distract too much from my eyes but… yeah.”
“I really don’t see a difference. Your eyes look just as green as without the glasses as they do with them.”
Her already piercing green eyes lit up. “Really?”
I felt like my one ‘really’ was going to change her world or something. “Really.”
She looked down and smiled at her shoes. It was really cute.
Did I seriously just think that again?
I almost didn’t notice Reina jolt up from her seat. “I’m still sitting in your chair. Sorry.”
“No it’s okay I mean…”
“Yeah, but we might was well trade spots.”
“True.”
So we did, and while my mind still tried to process thought from its two hours of sleep and Reina’s constant cuteness, (I need to seriously figure out what’s happening here. Eh, maybe tomorrow.) I realized that I had forgotten all about the presentation and how Reina was coming over to work on that.
Whoops.
Discussing how to put together the presentation was going to be difficult. I mean… I don’t know.
Looks like I would just have to wait until the evening rolled around.
________
I got home around 5:00 and realized two things.
One, I seriously needed to clean the living room.
Two, I needed to change.
So after changing into a cobalt blue v neck t-shirt and jeans *cringe*, I worked on basically hauling all of the junk in the living room into one of the guest rooms.
I seriously needed to find the time to mass clean my house.
I decided that the easiest way to do this was to set up my laptop on the dining table and hope that things wouldn’t be too awkward. Then again, why would they be in the first place?
In the process of setting up the laptop, my phone buzzed.
Reina: Going to be maybe half an hour late. Desperately need comfy pants. Sorry.
Neal: You serious? Take your time. Okay, not really. Comfy pants are a must though.
Reina: Well, I see we share a similar opinion. Be there at 6:30.
Neal: Sounds good.
And sure enough, my bell rang at 6:30.
“Hey.” Reina said as she beamed wearing a red t-shirt and some loose fitting jeans.
Comfy pants my ass. What I wouldn’t do to wear sweats to work.
“Hey yourself. The laptop’s on the dining room table.”
“Okey Doke.” She said, strolling in and heading towards the totally visible dining room.
Who says that anymore?
Right, Marge.
“Your house is really big. You stay here alone?” Reina asked, setting down her bag in a chair.
“On and off.” It wasn’t exactly a lie.
“Oh. House mate?”
“You could say that.”
“Live in girlfriend?”
“Nope.”
“Siblings?”
“Only child.”
“I give up.”
“Well then, I think this deserves a seat.” I said as I sat down in front of the laptop, Reina next to me.
“Soooooooooooo.”
“Sooooooooooo.” I said back.
“How do we even start?”
“Well, I was hoping you could come up with that. You seem more creative.”
“Me? Creative?” Her eyes widening as she joked.
I rolled my eyes at her and she leaned over me to reach the overview which I had set on the far side of the laptop. Glancing over it, I realized she still had her glasses on.
“You didn’t pick up your prescription?”
“What?”
“Your contacts.”
“Oh… I guess not.” She shrugged and continued reading the paper.
After about three minutes of silence she said, “I think I might just have an idea.”
AN: I cannot handle writing these scenes tbh because I picture things one way and then i realize that I have to stick to the story line like ugh the struggles of being an overimaginitve writer
