We cleaned the lockers under principals demands. Since it was Lucas's locker.
And he cried. God I didn't want to see him cry so soon. I hated hearing every sniffle and seeing every tear fall from his face. I needed to hit someone but I don't know who would do this?
I could have gave it to Mark while he was standing in front of me trying to act all innocent. The one guy Lucas thought was his friend actually stabbed him in the back. In front of everyone.
"I guess we're the most hated gay couple now." I chuckle to lighten the mood but he didn't take his eyes off his shoes covered in black spray paint flakes and salty tears. "Lucas, you don't even need them. You have Sasung, me, Injoon and Jeno. The only people who had a slight problem with you for a short while."
His red eyes looked up at me like he was tryin to hide the hurt but it was evident. "Thanks, Jungwoo. I'm glad that you were right. Taeyong doesn't like gay people. Obviously..." his voice cracked causing his body to jolt. "Or he just doesn't fucking like you and I don't see why because you're so amazing. And no one can ever be happy around him unless you kiss his ass-"
Lucas was shaking and his nails dug into his palms deeply that I swear he was hurting himself and drawing blood.
I hugged my boyfriend because I couldn't think of anything else to do. We missed half of the day and I knew neither one of us wanted to endure the rest of the day.
"We should go home. I'll call Shiwoo and tell him to get us. We can have our first date in my room. Just get away from everything. With me." Lucas eyes brightened just a tad bit. "It won't be as romantic which is good for me because I hate that sloppy shit."
"Jungwoo. Romance is what makes the relationship." He then nudged my side which kind of hurt and I showed it. "I'm sorry, baby, did I-"
We both stared at each other with wide eyes and partial smiles. Except Lucas, he was obviously embarrassed. "-just call me baby? Yeah, you did. I'm kind of flustered."
"Don't start! Just call your dad or Shiwoo... whoever." He looked away from me trying not to giggle. "I'm already giving you pet names. This is making my day."
I hug him tighter like I might lose him and I truly could. In a second he could run back to Taeyong's group like he did quite often. But I can't let that happen. I finally got him and it'll be forever before I lose him.
We turned to Sasung who was returning from scraping the paint from under his nails. He stared us down for a split second before shrugging. But I could tell he had something to say. Sasung never held his tongue.
"What's wrong?" I ask while slowly releasing Lucas. "Did something happen?"
Sasung shook his head then looked back at his nails. "It's nothing really. I just... you guys really like each other huh?" I quickly look to Lucas who nodded. "Not the same way Injoon liked Yaebin right? Because she left him so quick and he just let her go. You guys won't let each other go right?"
I'm starting to get worried about what Sasung is saying. This situation has nothing to do with Injoon and his ex. We all knew that girl was crazy from the beginning. Yaebin has never been—
"Better than Taeyong and Nayoung. Better than Siyeon and that bobblehead Mark." Sasung's hands were clenched at his sides. Injoon immediately came up behind him and caressed the older's hand. "Don't do anything to them," he spoke after thinking to himself. "This is how it's supposed to be. If we retaliate we let them know they got under our skin. Instead, we walk in here tomorrow like usual. Four best friends. Head held high. And smile."
Lucas agreed and a part of me knew I should too, but I couldn't. This was Taeyong's way of breathing. As long as he got to pick and fight with us without getting scratched in the process then he was good. They didn't know him like I did. Getting his way is what he wants.
Although I nodded my head, I didn't mean a single thing from it.
"Shiwoo will be here shortly. Let's finish this and go. Sasung and Injoon, I can take you home."
We got back to scrubbing. The entire time I made sure Lucas didn't drop another tear.
