I leave the library in a weird sort of haze. I hail a cab and make my way back to my apartment, I kick my shoes off at the door and make my way to the couch. I plop down and look down at the books I am still holding and toss them onto the end table. I close my eyes and begin to go over what all just happened. I know I felt something, that wasn't just a normal encounter. The air was electric when I made eye contact with her, she had to have felt it too. Did I do something to make her uncomfortable or something, why would she say no. Alright, let's not freak out. Maybe it was just a fulk, maybe the power in the building was surging or something weird like that. This doesn't necessarily mean that I am cursed. That's right, I refuse to believe that I am the one that is cursed. I will just call stacy and see if she wants to hang out or grab a bite or something. I sit up and grab my phone from my pocket. I unlock it and look for her contact I scroll through the list of random women whose number I have collected. I find stacy's, I tap her name and dial her number. It rings for what seems to be only a second and then goes to voicemail. Alright I guess she doesn't want to talk to me. I hang up without leaving a message and set my phone onto the end table. I contemplate for a second on what I am wanting to do, as I sit there my stomach begins to grumble. I stand up and make my way to the kitchen, I open the fridge and look for something to make. It is completely empty, I curse under my breath and close the door. Alright it looks like i'm going out. I make my way back to my door and grab my phone as I walk past the end table. I pat my pockets to check for my wallet and it's not there. Shit, where did I have it last. I turn around and scan the room, I look at the end table where I set everything down and it's not there. I think back to where I've been today, I don't remember having it in the cab because I paid through their app. So that means I probably left it at the library. Great, I really do not want to go back there. Do I really need that wallet, I mean I can cancel my two cards and I am pretty sure that getting a new license isn't that hard. The only problem would be my work I.D, but I am sure that we can replace that without too much hassle. I'll just say it was stolen, it shouldn't be a problem. Alright so it's settled I won't go back and get it. My stomach rumbles again almost as if to tell me how irrational I am being. As I struggle to decide what I am going to do about my present situation my phone buzzes. I look at the screen to see who it is and it is a number that I do not recognize. "Hello this is Devin."

"Devin Daimon?" a quiet female voice asks on the other end.

"Yes, who is this?" I am only slightly confused by the mysterious call.

"This is Maddox from the library, I found your wallet and got your number from one of your business cards." She timidly responds to my question. Maddox huh what a pretty name, it definitely suits her. I shake my head slightly to stop myself from getting sucked into my thoughts.

"Awesome, I thought I was going to have to replace all my cards and such. Can I come get it?" Of course she found my wallet, why I assumed I could just forget about is beyond me.

"Actually the library closed about ten minutes ago, do you want to come pick it up tomorrow?" She asks still rather timidly.

"I kinda need it tonight actually, is there anyway we could meet at the bistro on the corner of 5th and walsh? It's about a block from the library." I might be able to use this opportunity to buy her dinner or something. There is prolonged silence on the other end of the line.

"I guess that will be okay, I will head that way right now."

"Alright I will head out now as well." There was a bit more silence and then the a beep as the call was ended. I grab my keys and head out the door. It only takes me a few minutes to get there from my apartment. I walk in and look around the room, I don't see her. I chose a seat near the door so I can keep an eye out for her. I wait for maybe 10 minutes before she walks through the door, I was a little confused because the library was only a block away. She walks over and sets the wallet on the table.

"Everything is still in there, you can check if you'd like." She says as she stares down at her hands. I pick up my wallet and glance through it, she is being honest everything is there.

"Thank you for returning this, please let me buy you dinner to show my appreciation." I motion for her to sit down. She is still looking down at her hands not making any eye contact. "Please I insist." I stand up and pull out the chair for her. She hesitates and then sits down. I walk back around the table and take my seat. I smile up at her as the waiter comes over.

"Hello my name is Tom I'll be your server for tonight, can I get you guys something to drink?" He says through his fake customer service smile.

"Just a water, please." Maddox asks while giving him a meek smile.

"A beer please." I ask and our server walks away. "So, Maddox what's your major?"

"History, I am studying Ancient Grecian history." She states while still staring at her hands in her lap.

"What made you choose that?" Tom comes back over and places our drinks on the table. Noticing that we are in the middle of a conversation he excuses himself. She jerks her head up in my direction but still avoids eye contact.

"You know I not exactly sure. I think it something that I have always felt drawn to, I get a weird sense of familiarity from it." She says looking off into the distance.

"I get what you mean." I say under my breath. She looks over at me as if she heard me but doesn't say anything. Tom strolls back over with a pad of paper and a pen in hand.

"Are you ready to order?" He asks with his corny smile plastered on his face.

"I'll take a cheeseburger with fries." I say as I hand him my menu. Maddox sits for second and fiddles with her menu.

"Can I have just some fries please." She makes a move to hand him her menu, I put my hand on her wrist to stop her.

"You can get whatever you want, it really isn't a problem. Think of it as a reward for returning my wallet." I gave her smile and a small pat on her arm.

"Alright then I guess i'll take a cheeseburger as well." She reaches out and hands him her menu.

"So, that wasn't so hard now was it?" I smile at her and she does something that really surprises me. She looked back at me with her gorgeous green eyes made eye contact and smiled back.
