"We have to leave camp," said Carol as she gave me a water bottle after helping me up. I took the water and was surprised.

"Why? This is a good and safe place," I replied.

"While Toby was hunting, he found some walkers wandering up here. You think you can make it?" she asked.

"Yeah I think I can make it. Why? Aren't we taking the car?" I asked.

"We can't. There's no gas and we can't find a gas station," she replied.

"That sucks. So I'm just gonna have to hobble down the road like the walkers?" I asked.

"Don't even compare yourself to a walker. You can make it. I know you can. You're strong," she said as she placed a kiss on my cheek. She smiled and walked away. I had a big smile on my face.

Toby walked up to me with my crossbow and a bag. I lifted up an arm not even questioning him. He put my crossbow across my back along with my arrows. He put the backpack on one arm and then moved to the other side. I nodded as he left. He half smiled.

Carol walked over to me now with a bag on her back and a weapon in her hand. She put the knife in her boot and walked up to me.

"You okay?" she asked as she put her hand on my arm.

"No not really. I just feel useless," I replied.

"You're not useless," she said as she moved her hand to my face. She brushed the hair out of my eyes. She left her hand on my face. "We have a lot of people. We'll protect you, okay?"

"Okay," I replied. She removed her hand from my face. I lifted my arm and motioned for her to hug me. She embraced me in a hug. I wrapped my arm around her and pulled her in closer. We hugged for about fifteen seconds when Toby walked over.

"We need to go," he said. We let go and I put my arm back on my crutch. She smiled and I smiled back. Toby and Carol walked away and I followed. Matt was holding Jeremy and Blaire was standing next to them. Toby was walking right behind them. I caught up to Carol as she waited for me.

"Hey useless," she scoffed in a playful manner. I giggled.

"Hey stalker," I replied.

"Stalker?" she asked taken back by what I just said.

"Yeah. You remember when you told me you saw the fall of the prison? I mean- I thought Rick kicked you out of the group," I laughed, "so you were stalking us." I smiled really wide. She hit me playfully.

"That's rude," she said.

"Well, calling me useless is rude."

"Whatever," she shook her head. I smiled and laughed.

"Hey, that place looks secure," yelled Toby behind himself.

We all caught up to where he was. It was a big two story house in the middle of nowhere. Me and Carol both looked at each other and smiled. We walked in the huge house and everybody had their weapons ready. No walkers. Everyone but Carol and Jeremy walked upstairs. Carol was holding Jeremy. We both walked into the living room and sat down on the sofa. I put my crutches to the side of the couch. Soon everyone walked down the stairs.

"Any walkers?" I asked.

"None," replied Matt. He walked straight to Jeremy and picked him up. Blaire walked to the back of the house. Soon she returned.

"Hey Daryl, there's a room back here if you want to try and rest," she said pointing behind her.

"Yeah, okay," I said as I struggled to get up. Toby rushed over to help me up. He gave me my crutches and I thanked him. I hobbled to the back. It was a master bedroom and it looked sort of normal besides the bed being messed up and all the drawers swung open. I walked to the book case and grabbed the most boring looking book. The cover read Into the Night. I turned to the first page. It was the most boring thing I have ever read. I soon hobbled to the bed. I pulled back the covers and set the pillows up. I put the book face down on the bed and put the crutches to the side. I grabbed the book really fast and plopped onto the bed. I pulled the covers over my legs. I started back where I left off. Carol soon walked in the room. I looked up and then looked back at the book.
