6 months later
“Sid I love you, I know it must sound weird but I love you since the past one year but I never had the guts to say this mainly because of Meena I don’t know why you guys broke up but I waited 6 months in the hope that you guys will patch up with each other but you guys didn’t, Sid I know deep down you still love Meena but I can’t help it Sid I love you I don’t want to share your happiness, I don’t want your company all the time, I don’t even want your love just give me the permission to love you just share with me all your feelings that all I need I don’t even want a commitment from you just let me love you please...........” I said as I felt my tears on my cheeks.
“Permission granted” I heard a voice. I suddenly opened my eyes to see Maya standing and laughing. I looked around and realised that I was in my room sitting on my bed and blabbering to myself that to aloud and audible to everyone.
“WHAT THE HELL YAR MAYA..........” I screamed.
She laughed some more. I took a basketball and threw it aiming at her head. But she held it on time.
“Clumsy shot sis......is that the reason why you stopped playing?” She asked.
“No yar I haven’t stopped playing, I don’t play much I just do that for fun” I replied.
“OK now if you have practiced enough go to college and propose Sid for real” Maya advised.
“OK, OK” I said as I took my scarf and started adjusting it around my neck.
“Di......Don’t you really know why Sid and Meena broke up?” I asked.
“I just know some it’s and bit’s that I got to know from some of my friends discussion it’s their normal issue yar about Sid being insecure about Meena and asking her things like ‘Do you like that guy?’ or ‘Do you have second thoughts about me?’, ‘what were you talking to that guy?’ and stuff” I said.
“Oh! Really” Maya asked.
“Ya they were having this issues since the start but I never thought that they will end up breaking up” I said.
“But I think maybe Aswani and Aadhi spoiled everything” Maya said.
“Why will they do that both of them were standing up for their friends and what will they get but doing these stuff?” I asked.
“I don’t know about Aadhi but I have a doubt about Aswani” Maya said.
“What kind of doubt?” I asked.
“See Aswani and Meena are best friends since the first day of collage and Meena is more hot and sexy than her and Aswani is a little fat and stuff and she never got any proposals till date while her best friend Meena is dating a guy like Sid chances are there that she might get jealous of Meena and deep down want to break her relation” Maya said.
“Aswani, no way yar they are best friends” I said.
“Lali di even you had a fight with Lakshmi because of a guy” Maya said.
“Maya you know that I don’t like to discuss this topic plus we didn’t fight because of a guy” I said angrily.
“OK sorry di” Maya said.
“OK, bye, Maya I don’t wanna get late” I said as I slipped the ring Sid gave me on my ring finger. I wear that ring every day.
“Hey wait tell me when have you planned to propose Sid?” Maya asked.
“Today I have to tell a speech after that Sid has promised to meet me so that I can help him to prepare for the speech competition he is participating in so at that time boom I will tell him” I said.
“OK..... Sounds like a good plan to me, good luck with that” Maya said.
“Thanks....” I said.
I took my helmet and was about to leave when I heard mom talking to dad.
“You should start saving money for Lali’s marriage” She was saying.
“I am not planning to get married anytime soon mom” I said.
“Then when will you marry after 30?” mom asked sarcastically.
“Ya why not Katrina Kaif is 31 years old and still unmarried” I said as I took the water bottle from the fridge and started drinking water.
“She is a heroin people from film industry are not fount of getting married” Mom said.
“Then even I shouldn’t get married because even I wanna work in the film industry” I said.
“Stop day dreaming, will you? You haven’t even passed last semester” Mom said.
“Mom we only want talent to work in film industry and I have talent and I am willing to work hard” I said as I kept the bottle in the fridge again.
“If you were willing to work hard you would have passed” she said.
“I didn’t failed because I didn’t work hard I failed because whenever I enter the exam hall I realise that I don’t belong there, I don’t wanna study commerce mom, our education system is so lame they expect us to mug up the answers and vomit it in the answer paper who mugs up the most will be the winner no place for creativity talent and skill they test our memory power mom not our skill and I wanna show the world my skill not my memory power” I said.
“You can’t change our education system you have to accept it the way it is” Mom advised.
“I can’t mom because it’s wrong, it’s really wrong they are spoiling our life” I said.
“I don’t wanna fight Lali, your hair have turned so dry your skin tone also became darker today I will make haldi  for your face and hot oil for your hair” Mom said.
“Why do you change the topic every time I try to speak about this topic, here you daughters future is getting spoiled and all you care about is her spoiled face and hair?” I asked.
“So what else should I say?” She asked casually.
“Nothing talking to you is useless” I said as I turned and walked away.
*
“What the hell yar Divya how could I mess it up like this?” I asked as I felt my eyes welding up with tears.
“It’s OK Lali it’s just a speech” Divya said as she kept her hand over mine.
I don’t know what happened to me today I stopped talking mid sentence in front of the huge crowd I just stopped talking how the hell can I do that I completed the speech after a while though but then how can I mess it up like that. I have been doing this speech for quite a while now. It’s was the only thing which kept me going in this horrible situation.
“It was not just the speech yar, it was my life” I said as I broke down in tears.
“Oho look at the cry baby here.........” came Parvathy’s voice the only voice I didn’t want to hear at this time.
“Shut up Parvathy....” Divya said.
“Oho did the cry baby feel bad” Parvathy asked.
Can this day get any more worst? I thought and I regretted thinking that the very next instant as it got worst. I saw Sid and Meena walking with each other holding hands. I struggled really hard to hold back my tears and said to Divya with a smile.
“Hey looks like Sid and Meena had a patch up” I said.
“What!” Parvathy said as she looked at them shocked.
“Ya even think so” Divya said.
Parvathy’s face fell as she was hitting on Sid since the day they broke up and she was expecting to trap Sid. But unusually, her sadness didn’t give me happiness because I was breaking inside.
“Good for them” I said making a fake smile with at most difficulty.
That day I learned not to underestimate fate it can get worst anytime.
*
“So that is it” Lali said.
“So you never tried to propose to Sid ever again?” I asked.
“Of course not Asin like he had patched up with Meena their love story was so perfect I didn’t wanted to come in between them” Lali said.
“But do you still love him?” I asked.
“Of course I do after I lost all hopes of getting him I just became really sad I was so worried I was in depression for many years not wanna laugh not wanna cry the last one year I lived like a machine Sid was not there he had completed his studies and left collage I focused on studies and passed the exam somehow I knew if I stay in the city any longer I can’t forget him, like I couldn’t even sleep one day properly without crying so I decided to leave the city and come here” Lali said.
I imagined her pain.

“But Lali what if you meet him again?” I asked.
“This is not Half girlfriend Aisha this is life, I am not gonna meet him again like Madhav met Riya after years of separation” Lali said as she took the book stood up and started to leave but she bumped on to someone. Her book fell down. She was confused as she shook her head and looked at the person.
She gasped and said “Sid.......”
