The next day Cheryl acted as normal as she could, following her daily boring routine of saying this and doing that. But this time, she wasn't focused on telling her tragic popularity story. She was focused on what had happened the day before, and who the southsider talking to Toni was. Not that she cared, I mean they were friends but not very close. Yet.

She pondered deeply into her thoughts, every now and then something would distract her but it never lasted. She just couldn't figure out who the person was.

Here's what she knew: they were hunched over with broad shoulders and an average figure, so she assumed it was a guy. This and that the person had quite a low and raspy voice, which would be very strange for a female (no offense) but for some reason, that bothered Cheryl. Like, a lot.

Why would a guy, who had no right being here after school hours, AND WHO DOESN'T ATTEND THE SAME SCHOOL, need to talk to Topaz? I mean, I don't know anything about her past life. Only that she didn't like it, so she moved here instead. Come to think of it, I don't know anything about her. That could be her boyfriend for all I know-

Cheryl stopped suddenly, her heart sinking to her chest as she knew that she was probably right. Of course, now it all made sense. He just wanted to see her, and how she was doing in Riverdale High. She overreacted, like she always does. It wasn't anything suspicious, just a caring boyfriend who wanted to see his girl. His girl.

Her heart felt like it was barely beating as she convinced herself that she wasn't worthy enough for Toni's attention. Keep in mind, she had never really had a true friend. The closest thing she ever had to a friend was Jason (and we all know how that turned out)

If this is what friends are like, she didn't know what all the hype was about. It felt awful. Not the friendship part, but the 'oh hey you're going to spend your time with someone else who is not me and is probably better' part. Yeah she didn't like that at all.
But Toni said she didn't have many friends, so why wouldn't she include her boyfriend?

Cheryl knew that thinking about it wasn't going to help, but she couldn't stop. She was just a very obsessive person when it comes to her thoughts. As she was caught up in her daydream, she accidentally ran into Kevin, now knowing that she wasn't aware of what she was doing.

'Sorry Kevin, I-'
She began, not knowing where to start and whether to tell him or not.

'Come with me'
He simply stated, grabbing Cheryl's hand and guiding her down some stairs that were old and worn.

She had to say that she was very confused as to why Kevin was in such a rush to bring her down to where they were going. It wasn't like him at all. Suddenly, they came to a stop.
Cheryl recognised it straight away. It was the 'secret room' that her and Toni had discovered in the first week at school. But it looked... less colourful and more dull then she remembered. It had more of an creepy vibe instead of a warm and comforting one this time, which put Cheryl on edge.

'We're here'

'I can tell'

Kevin turned around to face the confused girl, getting ready to explain himself when all of a sudden they heard footsteps that seemed to be coming from above them.
Someone was coming down the stairs, and appeared to be following them.

Kevin motioned to Cheryl quickly, pointing to a couch that he expected her to hide behind.
She did what she was told, and Kevin soon followed. The footsteps had just arrived at the door of the room and they both prayed that they didn't hear them.

Luckily, they didn't, and kept moving around the room. Cheryl and Kevin slowly and quietly started to breathe as they thought they had been discovered in the mysterious room. She punched him on the shoulder lightly with a frustrated face. She already had enough to worry about, now this too?

She whispered below her breath,
'Kevin, you're my friend and all, but what the actual fuck were you thinking! We could've been caught! Do you mind telling what the hell we're doing in here?'

'Look, I saw you in the halls and you had the face that I've had plenty of times'

'What do you mean 'the face' are you trying to scare me even more?!'

'No! I'm saying you looked like you were jealous. You looked like you were jealous of someone'

'So what if I was, that's none of your damn business'

'Cheryl, honey. I've been through this. It's tough, but you just have to accept that Toni-'

'Woah hold up. What has this got to do with Toni? She's my friend'

'Well you l-'

CRASH!!

Cheryl, Kevin and the other person jumped in unison, obviously surprised by how echoey the room was. It looked like the person had dropped something accidentally, and was now panicking. They stopped moving and began to make their way to the door.

Oh thank god they're leaving! Finally me and Kevin could get ou-

*Click*

The person had now locked the doors to the room, aware that there were others in there with them. Meaning that Kevin and Cheryl were now locked in with a suspicious person who also knew of the secret room. Well it isn't really a 'secret' room anymore so they were no locked in the room.

Cheryl and Kevin looked at each other in fear, barely moving as the darkness consumed the atmosphere and the whole room was now filled with tension. All three of the people in the room could barely see. They nodded at each other slowly, moving cautiously and aiming for the door.

'Count of three'
Kevin whispered

'1...2...3!'

Kevin kicked the person behind the legs which resulted in them stumbling to the ground in agonising pain, whilst Cheryl grabbed the keys and immediately unlocked the door to let Kevin out. She high-fived him on the way out.

'That would've left a bruise'
Cheryl laughed as she ran up the stairs with Kevin, adrenaline now fucking their veins as they had a boost of sudden energy.

'Well, after watching Kinky Boots on broadway once I decided I would learn to do everything in Knee high boots'

'And how is that relevant?'

'I learnt tap dance, ballet.... and kickboxing'

'I thought you hated rough sports like that'

'Oh I do, but is was wayyyyy more interesting doing them in boots and high heels. It's a bit draining but plenty of exercising. I recommend it'

'Yeah no. I'll stick to the Vixens thank you very much'

'Suit yourself'

As they reached the final step, they checked the schedule and had missed period 1. It was the least important period anyway, and they had to do sports. Excuse #1: they had just had plenty of exercise because of the running and Excuse #2: no one cares.

'Just to let you know, not a word to anyone. Got it?'

'Wasn't planning to anyways'

They high-fived each other quickly before running to their next period, laughing but still feeling a bit of tension as to who the person (who was still in the room) was?

As much as Cheryl was tempted to go back down and check, even she knew that that was possibly the worst idea she had ever had. And she had kissed Archie Andrews before.
Now that's saying something...
