It was just a regular day. Which of course, meant that Travis was picking on my friends, as per usual. He was calling us homophobic slurs among other hurtful things. Now, it's February, and he does this every day besides bologna day. So, I think what I did next is justified. Today, his target was my closet friend out of the crew, Todd. The final straw came when that blonde dirtbag said "I bet the reason your parents are always high is they're tired of hearing your annoying little voice. I bet they're ashamed that their only son is a little hermit loser, who can't even stick up for himself because he knows it's all true. I bet-" I cut him off with a hard slap to the face. He blinked, and literally growled at me. "You'll regret that, you stupid bitch." Suddenly, Travis lunged for my throat. Everyone screamed and tried to pull him off me, but he was stronger. I suffered several blows to the face until teachers finally pulled us apart. The pain was unbearable. That kid has some serious issues. The last thing I heard before I passed out was Ash saying something about a broken nose.

Todd's POV

A crowd of students surrounded Ash, Larry, Sal, and I. They were murmuring about what happened, and my science lab partner, Neil, pushed up to the front. "Dude, what the hell happened? Why is there blood all over the floor?" He questioned. "Ack, long story. Basically, (Y/N) slapped Travis because he was being an ass towards me, and he just went ham on her. It was totally insane." I, for one, could not believe what had just happened. My crush stuck up for me. And took a nasty punch to the face because of it. She did that. For me.
I went into a slight state of shock, and somehow ended up in Ash's car on the way to the ER at our local hospital. I was sat dumbly in the back seat, with Sally sitting next to me ,Larry in shotgun and Ash driving. I blinked. Blinked again. Ash glanced back at me with a concerned look on her face. "Hey Todd, are you okay?" Oh yeah, she's the only one who knows about my little crush. She's basically my best friend, and the only other girl in our squad, so naturally I went to her for relationship advice. I nodded. "Yeah, yeah I'm fine." She smiled at me and turned back to the road. "Sooooo... what happened?" I whispered to Sal. "Well, after the fight (Y/N) was taken to the hospital, and Larry came up with the idea to visit her, so that's where we're going right now." He explained. I grunted solemnly and leaned back to my seat, resuming my intense session on staring out the window.
When we got to the ER, (Y/N) was just starting to wake up. She opened her eyes to see the three of us basically hovering right over her face. "Oh, hey guys." She croaked. "I broke my nose. Got a black eye too." She tried to smile and laugh but winced. It felt like my heart was breaking into a million pieces and put into a blender. It pained me incredibly to see her like this, but I knew I had to keep calm until we were alone. Ash didn't get the message though, and started tearing up. "That asshole Travis, I'll kick his ass next time I see him! I can't believe he would do this to you, (Y/N)!" (Y/N) sighed. "It's fine, I guess I resorted to physical violence first." Sally rolled his eyes. Or, rather he said out loud "I'm rolling my eyes at that statement right now. Are you serious? That bastard had it coming big time." She shrugged. "Mayhaps. Well, either way, I'm gonna be fine in like a month so it's cool. And now I have a badass black eye, so, score!" This time everyone laughed. After a couple minutes of conversation, Ash got a devilish look in her eye. "Hey Sal and Larry, do you guys want to go raid the cafeteria and shop downstairs?" She waved around a couple $20 bills. They left and then it was just me and (Y/N). We joked a little bit, but then I felt like I needed to address the matter of what the fight was about. "Hey uh, thanks for sticking up for me. It means a lot to me." I looked down, not wanting her to know i was blushing hard. "Oh Todd, it was nothing. I care about you a lot, you're my best friend. Don't tell Ash, though." She winked. "Anyway, I wouldn't just let him slander you like that. You're not annoying, and you aren't a loser." She was smiling at me and staring right into my eyes. "Wow, I love you." I whispered. Oh wait. Did i just say that out loud? Oh jeez. She smiled wider. "Aw, Todd, I feel the same." She leaned in and kissed me. In that moment, I thought I would die. I know it's cheesy, but it felt like sparks were flying. The kiss was over too soon, when the door creaked open. We turned around quickly to see none other then our friends, staring wide eyed, arms full of various goodies. "Oh wow, who knew huh?" Larry chuckled, nudging Ashley. (Y/N) squeezed my hand, and I knew everything would be okay.
