Zelda’s P.O.V

I opened my eyes slowly, slightly afraid of what next I may encounter. Darkness; it just went on for miles and miles, definitely far longer than the naked eye can see. I never liked being trapped in obscurity, but who did? You know that feeling where you don’t know what to expect or what’s going to happen, but in can be in a good and bad way? Yeah, this was undeniably more on the bad side.

Going back to what had happened what felt like 2 seconds ago, I wasn’t willing to wait and see. I tried standing from my sitting position, but I was unable to. Why? I tried moving my hands next to me so I could lift myself up, but they were stuck together like glue. They were tied up! Great… Now what?

My hands seemed to be the only thing tied up though, so why couldn’t I stand? I tried standing up once more, and it was a lot harder than I had intended it be in the first place. As I arose, what felt like a post was keeping me straight when I stood up. Tied to a pole… what could be worse?

I mentally beat myself up for saying that, recalling the last time I said that I fell through the cloud barrier of Skyloft. I tried wriggling my hands free from the rope’s grasp, but I was wasting my time. Abruptly, a shadow could be seen across the room. A shadow in the dark? How is that even possible?

I didn’t need to look again to see who it was. I’d recognise those diamonds from anywhere, along with another post on the far side of the now what seemed, small room. I squinted my eyes to try and “zoom in” to get a clearer view, and then I gulped. Link!?

I was heart-broken that he was in the same position as me. He failed his mission. Now I’ll never get to wake up. I’ll never get to see the morning sun once more, to greet my father again, to see all my friends, to hear Groose’s annoying, yet unforgettable voice. Never again… Wait, did I just say wake up? I can’t believe that I hadn’t realised this before: I’m still in the crystal! None of this is real! This is a nightmare, literally!

I actually became overwhelmed and a little spark of joy went off within me. It’s fake, it’s all fake!! Link is still trying to rescue me, Ghirahim isn’t actually here, and I’m still sleeping! A vivid, superb light lit up my surroundings, along with everyone else’s. Now I could see clearly, it was definitely Link tied to the post. But his eyes were… closed? My heart skipped a beat. “Link! Wake up! WAKE UP!” I would definitely lose my voice after screaming like that. He mumbled a little, and moaned afterwards. He raised his head so that our eye level was equal. His expression changed from confusion, to bewilderment.

“Zelda!? Are you okay? Did he hurt you?” He tried moving also, just like my first few attempts earlier on, but he too realised that he was trapped. He gave a hideous glare towards Ghirahim, showing his disgust in the demon. “I’m fine, Link.” Although he was on the far side of the room, I could hear his deep sigh of relief. It made me smile that he was so worried about me, and all for nothing.

I spoke too soon…

Ghirahim’s voice brought me back to reality quickly, the fake reality. “Well, what a pleasant reunion this is!” He skipped in Link’s direction. I really hated how he acted like a child sometimes, but it was the indication that he had done something wrong, or he was going to do something wrong.

His hand was placed under Link’s chin, and his hand quickly jolted up so Link was looking directly at me. He looked so defeated and hurt, emotionally. “You see that over there, Skychild? That’s you’re friend over there, you’re precious little Goddess, you’re precious Zelda. Do you know what that means?” Link shook his head free from Ghirahim’s clench. Link looked to the floor, looking like he had been beaten. My eyes widen when the thought crossed my mind, along with Link’s words.
