Link’s P.O.V

Why did it have to be this way? Why did it have to happen to me? To us?! For what felt like eternity, I stayed in my exact position, feeling like I was frozen; a statue. All Zelda had said, was processed in my mind. The Goddess’s plans, the Triforce, it was all so much. And all so suddenly? It seemed almost unreal.

I honestly didn’t know what to do. My mind had left me, leaving behind only my thoughts on my best friend, my Zelda. I was so lost without her. Realisation hit me, when it came to mind the only way I would ever be able to see my friend, to save my friend, would have to be Hylia’s way. I stood up from my kneeling position, my legs slightly unstable at the change of position from remaining in one, for hours on end.

I stood up, took a final glance at my friend, and absconded the room. I couldn’t bear to see her again in her state. The moment my foot stepped out of the room behind me, two large doors concealed the entrance and any view at all of the amber crystal. I ignored the bellowing rumble of the doors sliding into their position, and continued walking to the gate of time. I passed Impa, her face remained expressionless, but had a hint of sympathy hidden. As I walked through the gate I thought to myself It only gets harder from here Link. It’s but a waiting game now.

Zelda’s P.O.V

Darkness occupied my senses, leaving me completely dumbfounded as to where I was in the first place. I was at a loss for words, terrified even. I dared not to move from my standing position, afraid that I may fall into the black abyss surrounding me. Precipitously, the black void was painfully slowly, changing location. A mass of whiteness chased away the darkness, leaving me standing in a new whereabouts. It all seemed so familiar, so real. I saw myself standing on firm ground, looking to my right I saw a giant statue of a women who seemed quite angelic. Towards the top were two figures talking. Is that… me?

Suddenly, one of the two began falling towards the ground at a high speed. My heart skipped a few beats, causing me to gasp in horror. Hang on! I’ll catch you!! I cried. But then I saw a big white fabric with a blue symbol imprinted on the back. I soon realised that the figure, was in fact Link, and the fabric was the sailcloth.

Link!! Over here! I shouted to him as he landed on the ground. However, he seemed to take no notice of me, like he was completely oblivious to the fact that I was standing only metres away from him. He looked rather dazed after he stood to his feet. Moments later, an indigo loftwing landed directly to my right, with me on top of it. By this point, I was very confused and anxious about what was happening at this current moment.

What is going on!? I thought to myself. My own talking quickly interrupted my thoughts. “That was perfect! You’re amazing Link!” Realisation came to me like a tsunami. This is the day of the wing ceremony! My mind was playing back to me the day of the ceremony that occurred, what seemed centuries ago. No wonder Link couldn’t hear or see me. I quickly tuned back into my own conversation with Link.

“You think maybe you’d like to, you know, go fly around the clouds together?” My heart literally sank into the deepest part of my soul, knowing what was coming. I was so angry with myself. No! Why would you even ask that!? Don’t do it!! By the time I finished my sentence, Link and the real me were already jumping off the platforms into the sky. No! STOP!! But of course, they didn’t hear my cries. I gazed toward them in the sky, and I was suddenly shot forward into mine and Link’s direction at such a fast rate.

After recovering from the sudden “teleportation”, I took a deep breath and found myself, somehow floating next to Link and I. It just felt like I was riding my loftwing, it felt normal. I once again tuned into Link’s dialog and mine, but what came next was all too impulsive. “There’s been something I’ve been meaning to talk to you about…” Just as I had expected, the giant tornado belonging to the Demon Lord Ghirahim, appeared out of nowhere, still giving me a slight jump.

I suddenly felt unsteady, and I felt my body move in unison as my real body was. Again, I was shot forward at 1000 miles a second. I opened my eyes and I was looking directly at the tornado. My loftwing suddenly started pulling back and was in my face. “What’s going on!?” I cried. My loftwing was being pulled into the whirlwind, as Link’s was being pushed away. Soon my loftwing and I were caught in the storm. I screamed, nearly falling off my loftwing. But of course, just like the day of the ceremony and this tornado, I did. I cried out Link’s name as I was diminishing beneath the cloud barrier. I saw his attempt in trying to catch me, his hand inches from mine, but he was knocked off his loftwing and it was clear, that he had lost consciousness. And soon, I too, was once more surrounded in obscurity.

Once I opened my eyes, I was looking at solid ground. I found myself lying in soft soil, too. Instead of being but a mere ghost of myself, I was myself. I let my mind cause my head to turn and look at the surrounding area, also known as the surface. Once the event had ended, I was in complete control of my actions and myself.

But suddenly, the sun was being blocked from making contact onto me. I looked towards the ground, and I saw that it was a shadow towering over me. I quickly gazed toward the sky, where the source of the shadow was coming from, only to be instantly met by the eyes of the one and only, Demon Lord Ghirahim. His eyes looked so evil, I had an instant shock and scrambled to my feet, trying to retreat from this monster. But there were walls all around me. There was nowhere to flee, nowhere to go. I was trapped.

I had my back up against one of the many walls as I faced Ghirahim. He smirked like a felon, as he bowed low towards the ground. “Your majesty…” he said. As he arose, he clicked his fingers and a long, black blade was summoned into his hands in a flurry of diamonds. I soon apprehended, that Ghirahim was in fact, getting closer; dangerously close.

I couldn’t do anything. I couldn’t run obviously. I couldn’t climb; the walls were as high as the statue of the goddess itself. I was horrified. Ghirahim hissed his tongue, and took larger steps toward me. I outstretched my hand. “S-stop right there. Don’t come any closer!” But my protesting must’ve looked pathetic, with my arm trembling at the same time, because Ghirahim just laughed at my face.

My knees buckle and I fall to the foot of the wall, not taking my eyes off Ghirahim. He was now 2 metres away from me, ready to attack. He looked gargantuan from the ground, absolutely horrifying. He was now close enough to do anything. Ghirahim took his free hand and lifted up my chin so that I could see his deadly eyes. He then vanished in a bustle of more diamonds. His sudden disappearance gave me a shock. I crawled out into the open area and looked around; no sign of him.

But, when I turned my head from one direction to the direct opposite, Ghirahim had already reappeared and had his sword held high above his head. My mouth opened immediately, showing off a loud shriek that was ear piercing even to my own ears. The sword came down…

…and all went black and silent…
