LINK’S POV

“Let’s dance, Skychild.”

Running like I was some sort of Sheikah, I charged for Ghirahim’s figure. Allowing my sword to scrape on the floor I soon swung it at his neck, but he caught the blade between his fingers, and threw me back a few metres.

Now it was his turn to come charging at me. He charged the same way as I had done, however he clicked his fingers before swinging his sword at me, making him disappear.

I jumped a little, but never dared to let my guard down right now. He definitely wouldn’t have fled the scene. A sudden shadow formed from behind me, and I swiftly turned my head to face behind me. Ghirahim had his sword raised above his head and was bringing it down fast. In the nick of time, I raised my shield to stop myself from being sliced in half.

He vanished once more when his sword hit my shield and he was too quick for me, for in a matter of seconds, an unbearable pain had started in my hip and travelled through the right side of my body. Looking down, Ghirahim’s sword stuck out of my flesh, and he ripped it out of my side.

I stumbled and staggered back towards the entrance to regain my strength slowly. Fi came out once more saying, “Master Link, your health has reached an extremely low level. I suggest finding hearts as soon as you can so you are able to proceed in battle.”

I heard Ghirahim laugh evilly to himself, but he was looking towards the ground. Why? When Fi disappeared, I completely ignored her warning and charged for Ghirahim again, who was now standing in front of the crystal again.

I started on my left foot to give me more of a boost, since if I put too much pressure on my right, I would cause myself to lose more blood than I already have. Everything changed into slow motion, and I could just see Ghirahim, Zelda and myself in the room. Nothing else mattered.

ZELDA’S POV

I had been watching this battle the entire time, although I still lay on the floor. But it was hard to make out what was going on most of the time, as the sides of my vision had been tainted with red. I assume it was from the blood.

Ghirahim had also been speaking to me this entire time through telepathy. That’s why he hadn’t been saying much through this fight.

He had been telling me everything he had planned during this fight; like he had already predicted Link’s moves and then for every attack, he had a counter-attack.

I refused to speak for I did not want to use the remains of the energy I had left. If I spoke, I would surely lose consciousness. I wanted to see this battle to the end. This battle determined the fate of mine and Link’s life.

Just as Ghirahim had pierced through Link’s side, I had to weakly raise my hands to cover my mouth from screaming in horror. I wanted so bad to be there with Link. I began thinking that perhaps me being concealed for thousands of years, was a bad idea.

Ghirahim disappeared and then reappeared in front of my real body. He actually looked in my direction this time! Can… can he see me?

“Now, spirit maiden, Link is hurt and weak. Therefore he will not think clearly through his next attack. He will come charging at me with his sword and try to slice my head off. But being the devious being I am, I will vanish just in time. This my dear, while result in your death for sure!”

He laughed evilly and my eyes widened. I rotated my whole body just so I was able to see Link. I saw Fi just vanish back into the master sword, but Link started charging at the Demon Lord as soon as Fi had left the scene.

I gasped, but too much. My breath got caught in my throat and began coughing. My energy was fading fast, and everything suddenly began to go in slow motion. I could only see Ghirahim, Link and myself in the crystal. Using the last ounce of my energy, I tried crying out to Link. Even my cry seemed to be in slow motion.

“LINK NO!”

LINK’S POV

“LINK NO!” Centimetres away from Ghirahim I gasped at the familiar voice in my mind. I realised what was going on, and it was all part of Ghirahim’s plan. I attempted to stop myself, but I was too late. My sword swung for Ghirahim, he vanished in diamonds, and then my fear came true. The master sword, it…

It hit Zelda…

The effect took immediate action, and it looked as though I had just struck a timeshift stone; the crystal turned completely white. The crystal started breaking and forming cracks. Through those cracks a bright, otherworldly light lit up the entire room. I dropped my sword to the ground and quivered in horror and fear.

“Oh you silly skychild! Now look at what you have done! How could you do such a thing to the Goddess herself? ...Not that I'm concerned for her."

“GET OUT OF HERE!” I screamed.

I threw my Hylian shield like a flying disk towards Ghirahim, hoping to slice through his neck. But of course, he disappeared from the scene, completely. I heard the shield crash into the ground near where the old woman and Groose lay. I noticed their breathing had become stronger again. Their wounds must’ve not been as severe as I thought. I was relieved.

I turned my attention back onto the crystal Zelda lay within. No screams were heard, which made me worry the most. Cracks were getting bigger, and parts of the crystal shattered when they hit the cold, stone floor.

Soon realizing what was about to happen, I ran back towards Groose and the old woman. “Groose! Wake up!” I yelled as I continued running in his direction. He stirred a little before he regained his senses.

“Duugh, what chu say?”

“GROOSE GET UP!”

He rubbed the back of his head before wincing and clutching his right arm. His eyes looked like they were about to pop out of his head when he saw me running at full speed, and the sight of Zelda’s room. He picked up “Granny” and we both ran for cover behind the gate of time.

Rumbles shook the entire room; I thought it would have collapsed. The light got so bright that I had to shut my eyes. I heard more glass shatter, each shatter giving me the jump of my life. I waited for it to all end, for it to stop.

I waited for what seemed like an eternity for this suffering to cease. But as soon as it did, I ran back to the room. As I sprinted Zelda was in the center of the room. She looked as still as she did while she was sleeping.

Her dress was now crimson red, her abdomen looking like it was black. The ribbons in her hair were gone, and her face was as pale as a ghost.

No. This can’t be happening! IT CAN’T!

"Z-Zelda? Y-you're Ok... right?" i got no response as I shook her shoulders, lightly but urgently.

“Zelda… please?” I kneeled beside her, resting her head in my lap, waiting for her to respond to me. But nothing.

“Come on sleepyhead. Stop messing around with me.”

I shook her shoulders gently, refusing to believe what I am seeing. But she did not move. Not the slightest sign of life. I gave up.

“ZELDA! PLEASE! YOU HAVE TO WAKE UP! I PROMISED YOU I WOULD COME WAKE YOU UP AGAIN! YOU CAN’T LEAVE ME, NOT LIKE THIS!”
